Great Book for Tweens/Preteens
I got this book for my 11 yr old with autism because his friends at school were starting to discuss where babies come from. I looked it over before he came home just to make sure there was nothing sketchy in it and found it to be clear and easy to understand with nothing inappropriate. Itโs got lots of pictures and I feel like it explains puberty pretty well (even included some brief info on female changes and some great tips on how NOT to speak to/about girls). I loved that it tells boys to surround themselves with real friends. Glad I purchased it.

If you want a correct anatomical book to discuss all of the ins and outs of puberty this is it.
I bought this book for my 11 yr old son. I am a nurse so my children have always heard the correct anatomical terms for body parts. I love that this book also does this. Their are words my son hasn't heard yet like larynx (I still love it). I just made small notes in the book letting him know what these words ment. Now these other comments are for everyone to help them make a decision on buying this book. The book does have about 2 sentences talking about gender vs sex. If a boy is actually a girl. It also says a boys may think about kissing a girl or boy. It does show pictures of every body part, not just genitalia but things like the larynx and the uterus. This book does discuss sex but only the anatomically. This book for the most part stay very straight forward. A personal bonous for me with this book was on the last pages it discuss that girls go through puberty as well and boys shouldn't make fun of them for the rate in which they developed. This book covers a lot of great topics from growth, shaving, voice changes and smell to erections, sex, babies and girls periods I know some of these topics are a make it or brake for some people so I wanted you to be advised. The only thing I personally wish this would have included is masterbation. Just like sex is something a young boy will think about so is masterbation. I would have appreciated this book addressing that this is a common feeling/thought for boys.

Clear direct explanations without bias.
I read this book prior to giving to 12 year old grandson. I appreciate the direct approach short and quick answers. I found no bias in the book. I recommend this book to anyone finding the subject difficult to talk about knowing it must be addressed.

Tough conversations made simple
Well it was an awkward conversation to start that I know will be an ongoing one.. the book helped guide the topics along. I did read the book before going over it with my twin 11yr olds.. in public schools 5th grade boys (least at our school) go over puberty. The 1st couple of chapters go over puberty. There is a chapter on sex and where babies come from etc. detail but simple PG science version. For sure would recommend reading this book before reading it to your kids. Pics in book show different stages of manhood parts but little cartoonish drawing (boys giggled) not bad itโs shows the progression of hair on the body etc. Iโm not letting them read it alone but Iโm going to keep it for my youngest or if the other two need a review or have questions. I did like the fact that it went over that everyone will go though it at different paces esp with twins.

Informative and accessible
Very factual and informative but accessible to young children. A good place to start but later on you will need something with more information. The edition is not great, 2 pages came off on the first day.
