Does this work for wood based litter?

Unfortunately I cannot comment, as I do not use wood based litter.

How does it feel on human feet?

Don’t know as our cat tray is on it. I can tell you it collects any cat litter which our cat brings out on its paws and is easy to clean. The vacuum cleans up the litter and every so often we take it outside, wash with hot soapy water, stand it on end with something between the two layers so that it dries quickly. Definitely recommend.
