NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Join Carl and his ex-girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, as they fight fantastical creatures and deadly mobs to make it to the next level and build the kind of fan following the dungeon masters can’t ignore in the second book in the smash-hit Dungeon Crawler Carl series — now with bonus material exclusive to this print edition. “Greetings, Crawlers! The training levels have concluded. Now the games may truly begin.” The aliens have come, and they’ve transformed Earth into a multilevel, video game–like dungeon. It’s the newest season of the galaxy’s most watched game show, Dungeon Crawler World . Now on the third floor, Carl and Donut have to fight harder than ever. They’ve already proven that a Coast Guard vet and once-and-forever feline royalty are an almost unstoppable team. Their ratings are off the charts. Viewers can’t get enough. But the dungeon gets more dangerous each day, and now there’s a whole new problem to deal with: Quests. They call it the Over City. A sprawling, once-thriving metropolis devastated by a mysterious calamity. But these streets are far from abandoned. An undead circus trawls the ruins. Murdered women rain from the sky. An ancient spell is finally ready to reveal its dark purpose. Can Carl and Donut solve the mystery in time? And can Carl finally find some pants? Includes part two of the exclusive bonus story “Backstage at the Pineapple Cabaret.” Review: So good I had to revisit this series before diving into book 8 - I’m on my second read, knowing what happens to them later in the series, and I’m catching all sorts of details I didn’t catch before (and will not reveal so I don’t spoil it for anyone else). One thing I’ve discovered is that Carl’s voice has definitely changed, as has Donut’s. Her “chat voice” has also changed, beginning as decidedly male to more her voice (except yelling). I had also forgotten that the first book covered 2 floors and this one only 1. The other interesting thing is that my husband is decidedly in the camp of reading books rather than listening to them, but we listened to the first book and the beginning of this book on a road trip and he said last night that these books are definitely more interesting when listened to, and of course that’s all due to Jeff Hays! I’m planning on making my way through the rest of these books this summer so that I can be as up on the details as possible when I read book 8. I can’t recommend these books enough! Original review: 4.5 stars It's been a couple of months since I listened to the first one, but it didn't take long for me to settle in and get sucked into the story. I think I liked this one even more than the first one. I am enjoying the humor and quests as they make their way through the level, and I also like how the relationship between Carl and Donut is developing. There are some great moments between them, including one in particular. Mordecai is also turning out to be an interesting character, and the story takes a turn in this one, I think for the better. Another thing that I find interesting is how Carl is trying to figure out what's going on behind the scenes in those who are running the games, and while he has to play the game that they've set up, he's keeping his eye on the goal of destroying the game. I imagine he'll pick up more tidbits in the books to come. Oooh, and I LOVE Mongo!!! Every time Princess Donut says, "Come to Mommy!" I crack up. The humor having to do with his lack of pants and shoes is a pretty funny schtick and while he is apparently resigned, I always like to see what they'll come up with next. I also love the kabooms! It's fun hearing about different ways he comes up with to try to defeat a boss or some monster. Speaking of hearing, Jeff Hays is phenomenal as the narrator. I still can't figure out how he does all the different voices! It definitely adds to the story and makes is so much fun. I have the kindle book as well and I sometimes read along with his narration, but of course at this point, even when I read it myself, I can hear all the voices in my head. Such a fun series! Review: BEST BOOK SERIES IVE EVER READ - As someone who tends to read a lot of modern romance, rom coms, and romantasy, I stumbled upon the first book in the Dungeon Crawler series, and I was hooked. I do read some sci fi sprinkled in every now and again. The first Dungeon Crawler Carl book is now in my top 10 favorite books of all time. The writing is engaging, funny, clever, and the pacing is fast so you just never feel things are moving slow. The side characters are great, and Princess Donut might be the best character ever written.

A very fun read
This book was a good as the first. The challenges are different and creativity regarding the floors keeps me engaged. Carl and especially Donut gain more depth as characters. Good stuff. I’m looking forward to the next book.

The ending has me ready for book 3
Very fast and funny read. Not as gripping as the first in the series, meaning it took me 2 days to read instead of 1. The ending has me ready for book 3. If you enjoy Hunger Games, video games, or cats, I think you’d enjoy this book. Actually, if you like to read at all I think you’ll enjoy this book. Spoilers! A Celestial Box Tier Read.
It seems that Katia is not the only momentum based build introduced in this masterful next installment. In this holy scroll, Matt Dinniman proves that his wit and Divine Authorship was, infact, not a one time fugue state from the gods, but a terrifying pattern of genius that I can only guess has been crafted by Satan herself. The way Matt is able to masterfully mix comedic humor, tension, combat. Well paced progression and perfect expression of characters. Sprinkled in with a painfully strong ghost pepper-esc dose of realistic overwhelming horror that would leave chuthulu jealous. A truly terrifying inspiration that is impossible to put down once started, I’ve already bought the next book.

Very Fun and Quick Read
This series is solid and is definitely living up to the hype for me. I loved that my one issue with book one was definitely addressed in this with Carl starting to deal mentally with the ramifications of humanity's demise and being trapped in a game. The craziness of how he is solving problems and quests is ingenious and definitely different. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Another great entry into the series
Carl and Doughnut are making their way through the third floor of the dungeon in this entry into the series. The action is ramping up but the book does not only focus on the action. The characters develop and the emotional connection between the two main characters is the best part of the book for me. We are introduced to new characters and find out more about this world. Matt Dinniman has a knack to combine witty dialogue and emotional moments together. Also, the action and danger are described so well that it does paint the picture in my mind. I am re-reading the series before the new book comes out and this series still has not lost its luster from the first time I read the series. I am enjoying this as much as the first time I read the books.

NEW ACHIEVEMENT! New genre unlocked.
When I first heard the description of this book I thought “how in the world could someone be interested in that mess?” Then I heard another person saying almost exactly the same thing when asked to describe it & how amazing the book was.. my interest was piqued & with it being on KU + having a free audible trial to use up I didn’t see any harm in giving it a try. I’ve never been so glad of being nosey in my life. I had so much FUN with this book. I started off reading myself then heard the audio was well worth the listen - which is where audible came into play - and that changed everything. To say this is a good read is not even close. This is hands down the most interesting and enjoyable read I’ve had in a very long time. The story, characters, and narrator is 10/10. You’d think with all that’s going on it would be a lot to keep up with but you get so entrapped by the game that you don’t even notice you’ve not added 6 new characters to the story. When I describe this book to people I give the same description as I heard and follow it up with “never thought I’d like something like this but I’m telling you it’s amazing.” Weather you heard about the book via social media or just through word of mouth out in the real world - it’s interested you enough to read the reviews and here is your sign to get the book. Read it - listen to it if you can - and enjoy the ride! I’m normally a horror / darker topic type of reader but I can not recommend this series enough.

It's a hoot of horror
It's high-paced, quick thinking, absurd, and now with political layers! I'm having a blast going through these books. Even as a 40+ woman. Go read it now!

Well let’s buy the next book then. I should be studying if you saw my last comment but what can I do? Also, buy the kindle with the audible, it’s an amazing experience.
