Necessary for Wii U power to external drive
Did a Wii U "refurb" and needed an external drive for backups. Got the Maxone but it came without a y adapter cord so there wasn't enough power to run the drive. This works perfectly. Been playing games from the drive for a couple of weeks from the drive without problems.

works as expected, nice little cable that was short enough to not clutter my setup, though i could have done with a longer charging cable. would buy again, i think it was cheaper than my regular cable so thats really nice

100% legit
The media could not be loaded. This thing is a plug and play with a hefty serving of never needing to mess with it. Heavy duty wire insulation heavy duty connectors. Works like a charm. What else could you ask for

Using 2.5 notebook drive with Wii U
The Wii U would not recognize my 2.5" WD external notebook USB drive using the normal usb3 cable. After searching for similar issues, I learned the Wii U USB ports do not supply enough power for most USB powered notebook drives. This USB ''Y" cable instantly solved the Wii U external drive issues. We have been using the USB notebook drive on the Wii u for months without issue. The only downside is that I have to give up 2 USB ports for the drive, but avoiding another ac power brick for a powered USB drive is a great trade off.Update 2017-01-08 - The cable did its job well. If you are tied to your external 2.5 USB drive, this is cable still the best solution for your Wii U external storage. Fewest wires possible. No AC cable required. Given it is 2017 now, I bought a tiny $25 128GB Samsung fit usb flash drive for my Wii U. The 128GB flash drive is near invisible and stores everything I own.

Perfect for External Hard Drives on USB 3.0
Works perfectly with my Samsung 1GB external drive. Right out of the packaging it feels and looks well built. It is markedly faster than the single port cable that came with my external drive on USB 3.0 ports. It works just fine on USB 2.0 ports as well but I don't notice much of a speed difference between this Dual Port cable and the stock Single Port cable. I seriously doubt this has anything to do with the cable, but rather my hardware. If I could change one thing it would probably be the length. It is fairly short and the cables being high quality are rather stiff. When I plug it into my laptop, it is hard to get my drive out of the way of my mouse.

Works well with Wii U
Worked well to power an external drive for use with a Wii U console. It can't power with a standard hard drive cable so the y-cable fixes it by drawing power from both ports.

Awesome for Wii U Owners
A very economical and compact way to connect your hard drive to your Wii U. The black color suits the deluxe Wii U best, as it complements its sleek, black exterior. I appreciate the sellers description of this device specifically for Wii U owners, as it simplified finding the correct y-cable to work with my Seagate device. Any Wii U owner has to buy a hard drive to get the most out of their console, and this offers the most convenient and economical method to connect your compatible device. A strong recommendation to any Wii U owners looking for a better and cheaper way to connect their hard drives without having to invest in a more expensive hard drive with it's own external power.
