Damaged - Unusable

I have ordered 4 spools of Schiff Ribbons Rattail Petite Beading Cord from ZipperStop and every spool arrived with one of the endstops torn off the spool and the cords falling off in a knoted mess. Why is the spool being destroyed? If it is to cover up writing on the endstop, could you please just obliterate that using a felt marker and not destroy the spool and its ability to hold the cord tgangle free?
