2019 Batchelder Honor Award 2019 ALA Notable Children's Book Award-winning illustrator Torben Kuhlmannโs stunning new book transports readers to new depths where imagination lights the way! A long time ago, one mouse learned to fly, another landed on the moon...what will happen in the next Mouse adventure? From the creator of LindberghโThe Tale of a Flying Mouse and Armstrong , comes Edison โThe Mystery of the Missing Mouse Treasure . When two unlikely friends build a vessel capable of taking them to the bottom of the ocean find a missing treasureโthe truth turns out to be far more amazing. Review: Not really a book about Edison - This is NOT a book with a story about Edison. I was expecting a parallel story of Edison working on his inventions through the main story of a little mouse and his perspective. What I received was much better. It's an adventure tale of a little mouse who seeks the help of an older professor mouse to retrieve a treasure belonging to one of his mouse ancestors. The little mouse (Pete) and the professor find that the treasure is underwater (In the Titanic no less!) and they have to figure out a way to get down there. It takes the reader through the process of what an inventor might go through: failure, failure until final success and all the risk involved with actual inventing. So readers get more the experience of what Edison did rather than who he was. It's a fun adventure that weaves fiction and non fiction historical events in a fun and engaging way that will make kids want to learn more about history and it's prominent figures. They may want to learn more about mice as well. In the end Pete finds the treasure and that is how Edison is introduced into the story. On the very last page. After the story concludes the book goes on to give great historical information specific to Edison and the lightbulb and the wonderful illustrations (not of mice but of the men) are on these pages as well. Fantastic book! Review: Fantastic book! Illustrations and little history lesson ! - To say I am impressed by this author is to say nothing. The illustrations are some of the best artwork I've seen. The story is very engaging , educational and interesting for child 4 years old and up ( read it to 4.5 year old about 20 times now). This is a fantastic book from modern days writer/illustrator, and given how many books for young children now are just beyond awful, this was a rare find. I bought other books from the same author. It is very disappointing that this author and some other very talented writers and their books are never mentioned in any "top" / "recommended" literature charts and list for children, but instead there are about 50 Pete the cat books, that would take about 2 minutes to write and have zero plot/story and ugly illustrations, as a top read for your child. Highly recommend to purchase books of this writer. They are keepers and the ones that kids will keep coming back to over and over. And illustrations are beyond gorgeous.

Cute twist on history for animal lovers.
This is a cute book that young readers (of any age) will enjoy. Taking a few liberties with history in which a mouse takes center stage in key events kids are introduced to historical events. The illustrations alone make this an excellent choice to give as a gift or keep on your own shelf. The book has a good size to it making the illustrations easy to share if you are reading this one aloud and holing it up to share to the surrounding listeners.

Great book!
This is the cutest book ever and had great illustrations! This book helped me niece begin her transition to chapter books. There are lots of images to support the written text. The story line was great too! We will be purchasing the others in the series! I read the book to her ... but she probably could have read it to herself (she is above grade level for reading).

Gorgeous art, clever story
I bought this book for my 5 yr old grandson (well all 3 of the mouse adventures), and they are simply wonderful. The art is gorgeous, the story is clever and delightful. My grandson will love them, I have no doubt. I love how the story weaves the mouse's adventures with historical information. It inspires inventiveness at the same that it provides a history of invention. All within the endearing story of an inventive, brave, and adventurous mouse. There is excitement, failures, and successes. I highly recommend these books.
