Yeah, I wish I'd thought of it too.
Be advised that the wrong size is printed on the X version of the current batch of this tool. It says up to 4" But, if you ordered X and you got X, you got the right one. I e-mailed the company and Elliott responded immediately. As for the Oil Udder, all I can say is Wow! It gives me a grip on the filter housing that I would not have after getting oil on my fingers. In the past, I put them on hand tight but needed a filter wrench to remove them. Not now. And no spill. I love it.

Doesn't work as needed. But makes for a funnel at least
Good idea. But this one dont work. The oil fills up and overflows. The tapered ribs on the inside lets the filter seal to the sides, creating a blockage.

Possibly will just throw this away after 1 use
in theory it seems like the product that has all of the properties that would help solve a messy oil change. I used this for the first time today and it made more of a mess. Some of the things I didn't think of: 1. It's not great for oil filters tilted at an angle (like my honda accord) Because it doesnt envelop the entire filter, the filter will leak out of an uncovered region of the filter and down the outside of the funnel. 2. The material makes it difficult to clean Even plastic is easier to wipe off than silicone, which seems to absorb oil. So if you wipe it, expect it to still be able to transfer oil to whatever it touches. Also, was it silicone so it would be grippy? Because it's not grippy when it's coated in oil. 3. The bottom plug - use a cap or a plug, not a confused combination. 4. The height of the funnel - once it's pointed into a catch pan, to get it out of the catch under the car, you have to angle it horizontal, which (in my case) meant spilling some onto the ground. 5. The inside teeth of the udder are somewhat useless. Once coated in oil, they slip. If this is outside of a return window, it's going into the trash.

worked well, but i think there's a technique to it
started off working really well. perfect length to drain straight into an empty oil jug. i think i went a little too fast though. i unscrewed it slowly, but kept going until it completely unscrewed. when that happened, the oil that drained out was too much and too fast and completely overfilled and spilled. i think that right before the threads release i'll have to leave it to slowly drain so it doesn't spill. if that doesn't work i'm not sure the mess will be worth it. but for now i think it was just me going too fast. if going slower doesn't prevent the overfill spill, i'll probably come back and modify the rating. preventing the mess was the whole point.

Works okay, almost need an even larger size for full size trucks.
