That depends on the transmission you have. If its a ZF then maybe so. BMW pays their engineers a lot of money on efficiency/performance testing. I would use the owners manual to determine what is the best transmission fluid to use. (IMO) Once you start "trial and error" testing on your personal vehicle you're asking for trouble, unless its a vehicle you don't depend on as a daily driver.
