Strong on a budget
Listen, this is an 85” TV for $600. It’s not a million dollar movie screen. The people complaining about quality are the same people that complain about the amount of a free handout. This is a smart TV for $600 that will more than cover your wall. Good, fully functional remote. The speakers on this are your typical/junk TV speakers. I hooked up a 1/8->RCA line and have great sound. Go ahead and spend $5k for OLED, but you aren’t getting 85”. This is a solid budget TV. It doesn’t look cheap or pixelated. We use it mainly for sports, and the picture is good. Make sure you have a strong wifi connection for this, though. We had placed this quite far from the router, and we had some picture issues. But that was operator error, not the fault of the TV. It was 20 years ago that a 40” plasma was $2k. These continue to get cheaper. Btw, the packaging for this is strong. I had strapped this in the back of my pickup. On the way home, one of the straps broke, and the TV fell over on the side of the pickup bed. While unboxing, I half expected to have a shattered screen. No sir. This came out of the box completely fine. Buy this with confidence. Hope this was helpful!

Screen Quality is Wonderfully clear and crisp; great color
Quality of picture screen is incredible. Details of everything; clarity of color and line; brightness can be controlled to give you several options - color can be as dynamic as you'd like. We bought this during Black Friday; so the price was absolutely right. The reputation of Samsung is solid; and we hope this will prove to be true with this as well. We do not use the sound from the television itself; so I cannot speak to this - we have a sound bar. We don't notice any sort of distortion when viewing the screen from various angles - color and picture stay true. CONS: the remote control is very slim; which is nice - but for anyone who may have trouble reading VERY small print - this could be a problem. Also; if you use another remote for streaming - which is often recommended - the remotes do not necessarily 'talk to each other' - and we have noticed the 'sound control' on the Samsung remote is a bit wonky. Using all the bells and whistles provided by the programmed purchase can be a bit of a chore - I am still trying to understand how to Cast pictures stored on Google; and then - where to find it after I have already 'found it' - sometimes then, navigating the entire system is challenging. Most people; I realize simply have a few items; apps - etc. they regularly use and so many of the 'extras' go unused. Because my husband and I are not tech-nerds; I am pretty certain we don't use all of this new televisions capabilities. But for the quality of picture alone - we are happy with this purchase. Of course; all the user manuals and such are online; which really turns into an AI 'chat' and then....well; it's rather a bust - really no humans to talk to anymore. But we'd recommend this to others based on upgrading to a quality screen.

Great value
For the price it can't be beat. To my eye, the picture is as good as any other LED television (OLED or QLED are brighter or more vivid but not enough better as to justify the price difference to me. I think the sound is fine, but sound bars are so reasonable that that those who want fantastic sound should just get one, regardless of which TV is purchased. I didn't expect to care much about the Fire TV functions, but now that I have them, I find the Fire interface to be plus. Set up was easy.

Purchased in Nov. 2025. SO MANY problems. Detailed Review. Do NOT buy!
I have 2 other Insignia TVs that I purchased in 2020. Neither is a FireTV - Just regular TVs and they work great - still. I was looking for a larger TV and I had zero reservations about buying Insignia again. I was hugely surprised that I had an absolute miserable experience to set it up and later, watch. Problem 1: Wouldn’t connect with remote. Contacted Amazon via chat. Was told to unplug TV. Didn’t work. Unplugged again. Didn’t work. Unplugged modem and router. Connected to remote. Problem 2: Wouldn’t play Amazon Prime. Called this time. Spoke to first Amazon rep for over an hour. Got disconnected. Called back. Another hour. The guy couldn't recommend anything other than what the first Amazon guy said which was to disconnect my router and modem, unplug the TV and try again. The TV gets to a screen that says it "needs an update." Click on it to start the update which takes forever and then the TV restarts on its own and returns you back to the original blacked out "apps" that it is supposed to support (you can't see them, but they are supposedly there). Tried several times, and it kept going through the same cycle of "needing an update, waiting for 45 min for the cycle, restarting TV." Problem 3: Amazon phone rep asks for serial number which I read to him from a photograph I took of the back of the TV. He says it’s invalid. What I read to him clearly says "Serial Number" plus it had a manufacture date of June 2025. He asked me to send him the photo as he couldn't validate the serial number. I also gave him my Amazon order number. He said the photo shows another serial number - smaller and way less obvious - with a manufacture date of 1 year earlier (2024!) than the larger, central label with the "invalid serial number." What's going on with that Amazon? Are you slapping on a year younger serial number and manufacture date to make the TV look newer and not like it's one that has been in your store room for over a year? I bought the thing 24 hours ago. Problem 4: There is no user manual. Problem 5: The power cord hole to plug in is hidden with absolutely no reference on any of the 2-page pamphlet where it is located on the back of the TV. Other reviewers have mentioned this. If I didn't read a customer review, I never would have found the power connector. It's vertical! There's an indentation on the left side of the TV as you are facing the back. Hidden at the top of it (it's totally concealed - feel with your finger for it) is the input for the electric cord. Problem 6: Once started - there's still the issue of it going thru different screens with rectangles of the supposed apps it has all blacked out so you can’t see which app it is. No icons. Problem 7: When you finally get it to work and see the apps - and let's say you choose a movie on Amazon Prime - if you put it on "pause" and leave the room to get a snack , the TV will turn itself off. When you turn it back on you won't see the movie, but instead the home screen with all the apps. When you choose "Amazon Prime Video" to get your movie - the thing doesn't even show you the movie at this point. You have to use the search function to find said movie. The only saving grace is that when you find the movie, it does let you resume from where you left off. Other reviewers have noted that there is no setting to avoid the heavy lifting of trying to find your movie again. The auto shut-off engages to "save power" according to the other reviewers. I haven't experienced it shutting off while I'm watching a movie - only when I put it on "pause." As others have said, the interface is super sluggish. It takes a while to load whatever app you choose. Unless you enjoy wasting your life in the set up process (I cannot understand how folks say it's "easy" to set up - and I am pretty tech savvy), I wouldn’t recommend buying this TV. I, myself, am going to watch it daily for the next 2 weeks to see if it starts having the screen issues that others reported. In this way my return window is still open. BTW - TV size is measured on the diagonal. Some reviewers have measured the length of the TV and reported an incorrect size. Also don't be fooled by the $169 "sale price" or "cyber Monday" or "Black Friday" or whatever title is given to the price. The price is and was $169 for the 50" TV for a while (just go to "price history" and you can see it for this and any product sold on Amazon). Hope that helps all of you considering this set. If I had to do it over again, I'd suggest another manufacturer.

Good tv with one problem
This tv is priced well, large, easy to mount, the display is very nice, bright and adjustable, clear sharp image, good refresh rate, basically no latency in the display, tons of connectivity and cool things it can do, overall I really like this tv there's just a couple small problems and one massive one, first small problem is its a bit slow with the remote, im not sure if its software or a connectivity issue but sometimes you press a button and it'll be several seconds before it reacts and occasionally will think youre holding the button down in this time, usually fixed by turning off and back on, no big deal, second small issue is some options just dont work, like you cant give feedback, the option is there it just wont select for whatever reason, and the final massive issue is you cant adjust the screen time out in anyway what so ever, it takes 20 minutes for the tv to turn off PERIOD, you cant adjust this through screen saver options, sleep timer settings or even third party apps, it seems Amazon has some sort of grudge against these tvs and for some reason sees keeping the tv ready for you when you get back from the bathroom as an unforgivable sin, ive heard talk about using an external device to code the thing and get rid of the sleep timer alltogether but I dont know how to do that, I dont feel comfortable doing that, and I dont want to buy a whole separate coding device just to keep my tv from turning itself off after 20 minutes, at the very least you can set it so when you turn it back on it picks up where you left off instead of having to go through the home menu and wait for it to load each screen separately, personally im happy with this tv but I cant reasonably recommend it for lacking a simple, essential, and crucial feature like adjusting the screen time

Excellent TV.
Very nice TV. Setup is simple and literally the one cord needed comes already attached to the tv so you literally just need to plug it in. The rest of setup (adding feet if not wall mounting and adding the two provided batteries to the remote) are more difficult than necessary in that taking off the back cover of the remote requires more pressure and perfection than any modern device should require, and the installation of feet, while actually quite simple, are made unnecessarily complicated by the directions to attach feet (if not mounting on a wall) and could stand to be clearer. For some reason, the labeling of the feet and the actual directions, are unnecessarily confusing and unintuitive. If Amazon fixes the remote control back removal to install the provided batteries or simply switches to having the remote come with batteries pre-installed and just clears up the directions about how to install the feet. The entire set up process could literally be less than five minutes from the time. The TV is taken out of the package until it is fully up and running. Picture quality is excellent, sound took a little tweaking in settings (very easy to adjust with provided remote: press the settings icon, scroll down to the “sound“ option select “advanced options” and turn the voice dialogue clarity to high and possibly increased the balance from 0 to 1 in the regular sound settings) which is easy enough to do, but why they don’t just have it come set with the audio operating correctly. At the moment you take out of the box I couldn’t tell you, but it does seem like they go to extra links to make their products that are actually decent and quite good unnecessarily, complicated, and confusing to use and or get up and running. Like I said before the entire set up and having it up and running without the need for the sound adjustments, could literally take less than five minutes if Amazon didn’t work so hard to make their products confusing/unintuitive. I still gave it five stars because although it took 15 minutes and not five minutes and it was 10 minutes of time wasted it was not necessary for the actual device and technology, but made necessary by the way Amazon labeled the instructions, etc., but none life. It’s a great TV very light simple to set up with even just one person and other five minutes is preferable to 15 especially in five minutes is totally realistic with the provided device and technology 15 minutes to have an excellent TV, fully functional, connected to the Internet and streaming video or music from your favorite apps is pretty impressive nonetheless. I believe I bought an opened box, brand new version of this 50 inch TV, and total price, including tax and shipping was less than $200.
