Ravenol J1D2122-004 T-WS Lifetime Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid ATF (4 Liter)

In my research I found out that the Toyota equivalent was made in many different places and the oil behaved differently from one place to another. I live in NE Montana and it gets really cold in the winter and hot in the summer. I needed an oil that would be good in both extremes. In reading the website on this oil I was sold. This company does much harder tests than most other oil manufacturers and use very strict QC on each batch of oil. So I bought it and wow what a difference from the Toyota brand. My transmission is so quiet and smooth. It also shifts smoother and cleaner. Wow oh wow I wish I’d found this years ago. I’ve had it in my RAV4 V6 for about 9k now and I’m still amazing at times on the difference my tranny behaves. Completely glad I did my research and found this oil. I did a complete 12L fluid flush change, engine running using the pump out method, 2 liters at a time directly from the transmission cooler lines. It took almost 1.5 hours, but the shifting does seem smoother, and because I do tow a camper, I decided that "lifetime" fluid is baloney. I did it at 90,000 miles, and glad I did. The old OE fluid was dark but not burnt. No particles in the old fluid. I do wish it were cheaper. Even the OE fluid is crazy expensive ($20/liter), so at $55 for 4 liter, this is a decent deal, but because the transmission holds slightly more than 12L, it's expensive, but a transmission would costs $$$$ to repair if it isn't serviced regularly. I'll be changing the fluid out again at 160,000 miles, and every 80,000 miles thereafter in the future.

I used this to change the atf on my 2013 tacoma off road. Seven years 96000 miles on the old fluid and then a recent 3000 mile heavy tow was making the shift into overdrive lumpy. I did a complete swap out via the trans cooler return line, two qts at a time and did the required level check. The old atf was brown! All good now, trans shifts smoothly now, feels like new. Very happy with ravenol, I will use all their fluids from now on.

This was recommended by other users in a Toyota forum for my 2013 Corolla's 4-speed automatic with 66K miles. Nothing was wrong, just preventative maintenance. Only drained and replaced the fluid in trans, not a flush or complete fluid replacement. Shifting improved within 50 miles. Excellent results, better than expected, especially considering only a portion of the fluid was changed. Will do again at 76K miles.
