Settlers of Catan is very well known and we enjoy playing it and its many variants. One night, 15 years ago, friends broke out Starfarers which is a sci-fi variant and it brought a fresh whimsical gameplay. Sadly, the popularity of this variant of Catan was a limited run and it was near impossible to find the game anywhere. If you could find one, it was 2-3X the original price. Fast forward to 2019 and Catan republished an updated version! I immediately purchased it fearing it would be another limited run and be out-of-stock again quickly. The game is similar to the other Catan Settler games where you collect resources and build out space colonies and spaceports to collect points to win. The game also introduces the outside element of a potential space encounter on each player's turn which can really impact the player's strategy - either assisting their opponents in unexpected ways or hampering their abilities. An expansion pack to support 5-6 players is also available now and introduces higher power alien species to gain powers from to help players dominate. If you enjoyed but have tired of the traditional land Settlers of Catan; Starfarers is definitely worth a spin.

A wonderful game

Great to get a remake of this title. The expansion made the game more fun so had to grab. Not cheap but this game is pretty sweet as it not long and has mind games :-)

We played our 6 player game over 3 sessions. No regrets and is an awesome addition. Love the Pilot and Co Pilot mechanic also, it really makes your feel like your doing something pretty regularly.

Para mí es la mejor versión del catan, el precio parecerá elevado tanto para el juego base como para la expansión pero por los siguientes argumentos les diría que es un precio razonable. Yo conseguí esta expansion a 980 pesos que es prácticamente el precio de la página oficial, el juego base me salió en 1800 (2780 en total) la realidad es que Starfarers equivale al catan original + dos expansiones porque tiene detalles de la expansion Seafarers, piratas y ciudades y caballeros. El juego base mas una expansion y dos amplaiciones para 5-6 jugadores sale en total en 2700 pesos aproximadamente, por eso yo recomiendo intentar el juego base y si les gustó mucho compren el Starfarers en inglés normalmente es mas barato, el único problema de ésta versión del catan es que la partidas se pueden alargar a mas de 2 hrs y con el catan original las partidas rara vez se alargan a mas de hora y media, sin embargo con esta expansión se impplementa una mecánica en la que dos jugadores hacen sus acciones casi simultaneamente entonces el tiempo entre turnos casi no se siente y el juego fluye muy bien
