Nice boxset, delivered on time and in good condition.These editions are great, and ideal for gifting/collecting.The cover art and paper quality are good, much better than some other editions.The legendary masterpiece of Tolkien needs no further introduction.Overall, happy with the purchase.

Ordered on: 28 november 2025Price paid: ₹1639Note: this is my first time buying fantasy books, and I'm writing my first reviewOk, so the first looks on the packaging itself was not very satisfying as the books were packaged in only a paper cover which did not provide much protection to the book case, the packaging should've been in a cardboard box so the book case could've been better protected, I recieved the book case a bit torn on the edges. The case is also pretty flimsy, I thought It was like a hardcover it is my first time though, just thought I should let y'all know.Talking about the books:1) The page quality is good, soft to touch not very yellowish.2)The text size is quite comfortable to read in the hobbit but in the other books it is comparatively smaller.3)The cover art is amazing, also just to let y'all know, the black details and the coloured highlights on the cover is some shiny smooth material.I will attach images of every book's cover and inside so y'all can get a better look before buying.So, Final Ratings:The books: 10/10The book case: 7.5/10Packaging: 4/10

These books are to be read many times. Once is not going to be enough. In this world where lots of abnormal things happen, the lord of the rings is one normal thing.

Never did I think I would place a series of book higher than Harry Potter Series, but this eloquently crafted fascinating series prove otherwise. Read alongside Hobbit, this folks is so elaborate a world in its own. If you choose to read this, fear not, for reading would first begin with a pinch of caution, doubt, but soon you would be captivated, amazed, curious, and would soon not be able to put it down. It's not a one day read, certainly not and don't even try since if you do, you would only be spending hours skimming and revisiting and yes, as I said day would pass, but the story would not. This is a delicately crafted tale, and I for one is in awe and respect for the author and his fans. Movie do not do this book justice. Author and his son does. And respect and admiration, they have earned. Here's to Tolkiens, their books, their legacy. Adios!

I am a 27-year-old college professor of English literature and am ashamed to say that I had not read the Lord of the Rings before. It was quite popular even during my childhood, for the first movie came out in 2001, and actually performed quite well at the Oscars.I got this box set for just ₹819/- during the August 2021 Lightning Deal, and although I had The Hobbit already, I decided the buy the box set. The books did not arrive in impeccable condition. The box was torn and damaged. One of the books, The Hobbit, also had a damaged cover. Thankfully, I had an extra copy of the book. Overall, I am satisfied with the purchase, considering the price.Now coming to the books themselves, only The Hobbit has big comfortable font. The other three books have small print which might strain your eyes if you have eyesight issues. The books themselves are comfortable to hold. They are not heavy but I feel the paper quality from Thomson Press could have been better. It may not be good for underlining and scribbling on the margins, which I do occasionally while reading.As a piece of literature, we know that this series has stood the test of time. Tolkien was a professor himself, and his favourite pastime was making new languages. He was also a translator par-excellence; please read his translation of 'Beowulf', an old English poem featuring dragons and Danish kings.Now a word of caution: I have heard a lot of people say that the books are difficult to read, and even that it's slow! Tolkien was not a millenial. When he wrote the Lord of the Rings, he didn't know that one day people would be glued to their mobile phones and would have short attention-spans. The problem with most of us today is that we love racy plots which move at breakneck speeds. Tolkien writes for people who savour language, and indeed the language itself may feel convoluted at parts. But that is the greatest enigma of his writing. He conjures worlds that people have tried to imitate and have failed. Tolkien was a genius and you will feel it after reading it.Trust me, if you enjoy reading the Lord of the Rings, you will enjoy everything else. That is because Tolkien builds the most complex worlds, and his books can be quite daunting at first for the casual reader. But once you finish this, you will gain more confidence to read longer fantasy worlds.

I'm very happy for this acquisition!!

It's just Lord of the Rings man, what else is there to say. Just cheap pocket books of the greatest fantasy work ever.

Tenía curiosidad por leer la trilogía del Señor de los Anillos, el Hobbit ya lo había leído e incluso tenía otra edición. Esta edición por editorial DelRey es muy barata, la verdad es que me sorprendió el precio y cuando vi el paquete que incluía El Hobbit y los tres libros del Señor de los Anillos, no pude pasar la oportunidad.Son libros pequeños, de bolsillo básicamente, útiles para llevarlos cargando a todos lados, solamente con uno de ellos tuve un problema de que al estarlo leyendo se le zafó la cubierta y tuve que arreglarlo, pero de ahí en más no tuve ningún problema con ellos. En cuanto al contenido de los libros, no sé cómo pude pasar tanto tiempo sin leer más obras de Tolkien, me declaro fanático perdido del autor, son maravilloso los libros, te logran transportar a su mundo y te hacen querer leer más, no por nada son considerados como obras maestras de la literatura de ficción, la aventura de Frodo y la Comunidad es dramática, divertida pero sobre todo se siente humana, hay algo de esperanza en ella y eso es lo emocionante del asunto, que por tanto que se vea perdida la situación, nuestros héroes logran triunfar.Recomiendo ampliamente la compra de esta versión de los libros para quienes tengan la posibilidad de leerlos en inglés.
