Worth reading
I must recommend every homoeopath to purchase this book. It's worth reading, the most important factor is it explained so beautifully if you want to go further with Allen M.M. Most of us not able to understand Allen but sir has given the discription so much beautiful in depth. It's application in practice is also easy. Basically if you want to treat patient by Similimum or single dose you can read this book. It's my guarantee it's worth reading

Dr Phatak's Materia Medica covers all symptoms and helps in the selection of the remedy considering the Totality of clinical symptoms in the patient. It is a wonderful companion both to the lay man and to the Professional Homoeopath. Along with this book one must also purchase the Repertory which is equally fantastic.

The book arrived within 3 days of the order. This is a homoeopathic must for a better understanding of the drug picture and its pathological affinities. Dr Phatak has picked up the best of Kent, Boger, Boericke n many others and has put a clear picture in a precise manner. As far as the print is concerned, it's not much up to the mark. Many of the pages are very lightly printed. which doesn't give a nice feel while reading the book. Since most of the books are not the original ones but are the copies, that's something of an issue, coz they are basically xerox copies. leaving that... this book is a must buy.

Long Wait for a Good Book
Just remember it is a paperback and not a hardcover. Also, shipping took a long time but, it was delivered in the time frame they said it would be. Price was right.

S.R. Phatak - Materia Medica of Homoeopathic Medicines
Would totally recommend this Materia Medica either to those with just an interest in Homeopathy or new students of Homeopathy. Well laid out and good quality for an Indian printing. Gives an easy read to get a more rounded insight to the remedies, giving complementary and related remedies at end of each description. Would say that Phatak gives a more informal & friendly read than Boericke (Homoeopathic Materia Medica with Repertory - get the superb British edition if you can - it will stand up better to persistent thumbing and viewing!) who gets straight to the point and whose Mat Medica I would not be without. For more indepth info have a look at The New Synoptic One [ASIN:9076189145 The New Synoptic One (Hardcover)]and Synoptic Materia Medica II [ASIN:B001783REK Synoptic Materia Medica II]by Frans Vermuelen - packed full of information but more pricey because of this, beautifully produced however. Hope that this is of some help to those new on the road of discovery of the joys of Homoeopathy - be aware though that once bitten by this 'passion' your wish list of books will be never ending!

Great starter book
This was a core book on our nutrition course where we were taught how to use homeopathy on acutes. Great way to learn and an easy read too
