What I LOVE about this product: -Locking system is great -SO much space (especially when compared to Thule products) -Cheap but VERY durable -Weather proof! Drove from California through Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico (it snowed there as seen in my photo) and Louisiana. Withstood that road trip and weather conditions. -EASY to install and remove. One and only con is -I did average between 80-90mph and it was great. However because of its size (which again was great for storage space) I did see a slight increase in fuel usage. Nothing too crazy. Example. Before the unit I was averaging 260 miles from F to E on the highway and now it’s about 220-230. (I have a 10-gallon tank on a 1997 Subaru Legacy Outback)

Held up well on a 10hr road trip. Suited my needs well i fit 2 duffle bags and a small carry on suitcase and other stuff with no issues. Easy to use. The locks are a little hard to mange and the hinge to keep the top open is a little difficult to use you would get one side in the hole and getting the other side in the side you just got in comes out so you must work magic to get them both to hold. All and all it held up great and fit my needs. Easy to mount.

Bought the 10 cu ft version for our Subaru Crosstrek just before a 3000 mile road trip. No problems at all, withstood high winds and pouring rain with no leaks (but we didn't put anything valuable or fragile in there just in case). Only affected the gas milage by 2-3 mpg, better than expected. Being able to open from either side is super handy. The arms that hold the top open are a little finicky to use but not a big deal and worth it for the money savings.

This is it! This is the one you want. Forget the competition, this unit is built like a tank, but it is still lightweight, easy to manage and manouver. The base and lid are not flimsy and looks to be built to last for many years. This badboy has 4 locks, a front latch, a ton of room, and you can access the carrier from either side. and I bought the smaller of the two available. It was easy to assemble and install. Fits on my 2019 Mazda CX-5 perfectly.

After test driving it before my big trip, I saw that four locks and a front latch wasn't strong enough, so I ended up using a strap to hold it securely. That's my only complaint. It was big enough to fit 3 suitcases and 1 large bag. It was easy to disassemble (hotel garage had low clearance, and I had to take it apart to park it) and reassemble for my trip back home.

This item was perfect for my car. The weight, it fit great, waterproof, and the price was reasonable. It works great for my needs.

I was looking for a roof rack to attach to my Kia Soul roof rack (from Kia) and found this Jegs Rooftop Carrier (10 cubic feet). The product pictures didn't show how it was mounted so I called Jegs to be sure it would work. After giving them my roof rack dimensions and describing the roof rack to them carefully, the Jegs rep said it would work fine and if it didn't I could return it. I decided to order it. Unfortunately it did not work. The mounting bracket is basically a simple clothes hanger shaped wire. While the wire is rigid, it does not mount securely with common roof rack designs. I also have a Thule Evo Wingbar roof rack that is rounded for air flow, and the Jegs bracket won't attach well to that either (the shape of the bracket seems only suitable for perfectly flat roof rack cross bars that don't have an airflow design). The Jegs carrier is supposed to be returnable, so I attempted to return it. I was surprised to find out that I would need to pay shipping for the return, and that the cost of shipping was very high (in the $150 to $360 range, plus a 15% restocking fee). Looking at the Jegs web site, I saw they offered a discounted shipping label option. I called their customer service line and was put on hold for about an hour and bounced through multiple employees before they finally told me that because I bought the product through Amazon there would be no way to even sell me a discounted return label, even though they shipped it to me directly and Amazon was directing me to ship it to the seller rather than using their return service. Basically I can only get back 20% of the cost, at best, by shipping it back totally unused in perfect condition, after having been told that the item would work for my rack and was returnable.

This holds more than I had expected it too. It wasn't difficult to put together or install. The material it is made out of is not extremely hard. When I loaded a kayak on the roof rack with this there was some deformation of the carrier where the kayak was cinched down against it. This was easily pushed back out. The locking mechanism took a little fiddling to get the hang of making sure it was locked but with the side and end latches there was never a fear of it opening accidentally. It has a high profile and probably adds a little drag to my vehicle but it's an SUV so it doesn't matter. I did not notice any noise increase as some have mentioned. I drove this through pouring rain and did not have a problem with water getting in. Also the mechanism for holding it open are a bar that must be put in place front and back. This is a bit tricky at times. Pros: Roomy Priced low Didn't leak Locks well Cons: Some what soft Stay bars are tricky Over all this is a good product at a great price. I would buy this again if I needed another.
