Best wood-stove poker
After many years of wood-stove fires, this is the best poker I have ever used.

High quality for a reasonable price
I've used this poker several times now with my outdoor fire pit, and I'm impressed with the feel of the item, it's solid, not flimsy. The handle and tip are wrought iron (corrosion-resistance) and the shaft is steel (high-strength) with a matte-black heat-resistant coating applied. The handle and tip are tapped and thread onto the shaft. I have not experienced the "loose ends" issue as described by others. I hand-tightened the parts, then used a pliers to tighten each end a bit more. For a well-made product under twenty dollars, I'll happily add some inexpensive threadlocker should it become necessary. If you are trying to maneuver heavier logs and your only tool is a poker, do yourself a favor and purchase a set of tongs. Fires should be enjoyable, not hard work. Now if I can just find a way to keep the smoke from blowing right at me regardless of where I'm sitting, I'll be in business!

Great Fire Poker, for inside or out.
This fire poker is very sturdy. It is long enough that you don't singe the hair on your hand trying to stoke the fire. The hooks make it easy to manipulate logs in the fire and help place new logs on the fire. The only thing to watch out for the the hook end can screw off. Be careful not to twist to much in the fire or you will have to wait and shift through the ashes to find it. Easily solved by putting some type of glue on it since you should need to unscrew it again once it is on.

Good Basic Fire Poker
Study black steel fire poker is a good value for the money. Works great for poking the fire, adjusting logs, and stirring up embers. Keeps hands clean and out of harmโs way. Nice size for a woodstove. At first the handle and tip kept coming unscrewed but then hubby tightened them and no problem since. Glad I bought it. Looks nice with stove.

Fireplace poker
We used the poker extensively during our week at the cabin over Thanksgiving at the Fire pit. the ends of the poker were contently loosening, but I will addressing this issue on my own with a tack weld at both ends. But I might add it worked great poking the fire other than this one problem. A great value for what we needed. If the manufacture made this correction, it would a 5 star evaluation in all categories.

A good, medium-sized poker
It took a while for me to get around to using this thing, so it sat out on my semi-enclosed back porch for a while. During that time not a single spot of rust from the relatively humid air occurred. Today i used it to burn a relatively large pile of scrap wood in my makeshift fire pit. I really like the hook + tip combo on it. The hook grabs things nicely for repositioning and the combination of the two allows me to get enough leverage to flip flaming pieces back into the pit should they fall out. Overall i can tell it's a strong piece so I'm not worried about bending or breaking. Be careful not to lose the handle as it may not be screwed on as tightly as possible initially.

Stripped threads need to be glued
Decent fire poker -- exactly what I was looking for. On arrival, the handle was loose in the box. Screwing the handle back on the threads of the post, it was clear they were completely stripped (maybe even used the wrong tap & die, so they don't fit together?). I tried adding some thread tape to see if adding some thickness would fix it, but no luck -- handle would stay on, but still wiggled and felt loose. A couple of dabs of two part epoxy did the trick & feels pretty solid. Poking end also seemed to loosen up, so epoxied that too. I am giving 3 stars because although it is functional & exactly what I need, the manufacturing and/or quality control is lacking, requiring some end user tweaks to get it right.
