No it cannot. But cup is small and erodes quickly with only a few hand-washes. Not worth the money.

Well loved cup

My toddler loves this cup. The water level was a little lower than the picture. I checked in case there was a leak, left it upside down for a few days. Cute cup, my toddler prefers this to the sippy cup now.
