Sanuk was started by surfers in southern California in the late '90s who were looking for footwear that reflected their lighthearted way of life. Founder Jeff Kelley was disappointed to see little selection in a category of footwear that had become his main shoe staple: the flip flop. Jeff had always been interested in footwear and with a little help from a few friends Sanuk was born. Years later, the Sanuk brand still delivers out of the ordinary, quality product to surf and specialty shops every season and has helped bring the flip-flop category from a summer only item to something worn all year.

I LOVE THESE SHOES
This is actually my second pair. My husband brought me back a pair when he was in Florida. I HATE my feet (Especially my toes) so I refuse to buy open toe shoes. I sware...open toe shoes are like the ONLY summer shoes on the market. I didn't want heavy, bulky sneakers that make your feet sweat from the moment you put them on. AND I didn't want to have to wear socks. I am particular. I wanted them to feel good, look good, and NOT make my feet stink after a few days of wearing. My husband thinks I am crazy...but he understands how I feel about my feet...so when he saw these he figured he would get them for me. I wasn't sure how I felt about them at first...but quickly fell in love. They are so light and airy. Comfortable is an understatement. I wear them 24/7 everyday. I have 3 little ones and am on the go and on my feet ALL DAY!! To stop them from stinking after a few days, I tried Crocs innersoles. That worked like a dream. I have washed my original pair twice (which I got in April) and only had to because they are white and had dripped something on them. NOTE: I am usually a size 10..but they seemed a little snug (with the innersoles) so I bought an 11. When I first put them on I thought they might be a bit small as well...but wasn't going through the trouble of returning them again. With in a few hours it was like the shoe formed perfectly to my feet. It was AMAZING. I bought a pair for my husband and he loves his as well. I HIGHLY recommend them!!

These shoes were obviously mid-sized as I had tried on ...
These shoes were obviously mid-sized as I had tried on a pair of the same size locally. These were at least 1 size smaller.

excellent summer flip flop alternative, but tight fitting- Buy the wide width
When you have these Sanuks on your feet its like not wearing any shoes at all. They are that comfortable. and make a great summer shoe. If you like flip flops but can't stand that rubber piece between your first and second toe. Than these are the shoes for you. Providing you get the right size. They run somewhat small and slim about 1/2 size and have a flimsy base to them exactly like a flip flop with a light canvas covering over them and no bothersome rubber between the toe. Just like wearing a covered flop flop that will not come off the back of you're foot. Not to be confused with a tennis shoe! these shoes are much lighter They only weigh a couple of ounces and they have air holes sewn into them with a flip flop kind of sole on them. More like a sandal, and their made so you don't have to wear any sock's with them . and since I live in Chicago I can tell you from experience They are DEFINETLY like a sandal. you can NOT wear these in Chicago in late Fall or Winter. But i absolutely love them for spring and summer. I have 2 pairs of them one tan color and one white color I give them 2 thumbs up

chill out shoe
My comfy, casual shoe. I like them more than I was expecting. They are a frame of mind slip on..... Great for muggy Southern days in shorts or skirts, when ya need more than a flip flop (my every day shoe). Fit is true to size. Easy to wash.

Not what i expected
I was hoping for more of a loafer with more of a sole. These are super cute but were very cheap looking when i recieved them. The sole is very light weight and looks like it would shred after 1 season of wear... the sides were much shorter than i thought and overall it looks very flimsy. they are marked as 'not a shoe' 'sandal' but i have sandals with more stability. For a $50 shoe, i wouldn't recommend. I bought these for my daughter for $15 and they are super cute and great on her... but not for me for $50.

Great Shoes
Very comfortable and light weight. They were little tight as far as length but they relaxed over time. I would buy again.

Comfortable and light!
Love these shoes! First found the brand while on the Vineyard, and now own 2 pairs. They are lightweight and comfortable, I love them! Easy to throw in a bag as a great alternative to flip flops in the summer.

awesome, wear them ANYWHERE
I LOVE these shoes! They're my first sanuks... And I fell in love. I can dress them up and wear them to the beach. The downsides: They're pretty dirty already... and I'm not sure how to clean them. Also, they're pretty flat, so those of you with high arches, they might be painful. But other than that... they're super comfy and very natural feeling... they are SANDALS:)
