Kamikaze Chess: The Crazy Variant Travel Card Game

I've played dozens of chess variants in my time. Most turned out to be impractical or didn't make any sense. Kamikaze adds an interesting twist to the game while still keeping the strategy and tactics of chess. A great variant for the price.

I gave this out at a white elephant gift exchange recently. I thought it sounded fun & wouldn't mind if I ended up with it. It want the most fought for gift (that was the whisky) but the person who ended up with it was very amused and hoped to be able to try it sooner rather than later (they had toddlers).

So, what if after many moves of a chess game, you randomly lost a piece or randomly got a free move? Sound random? It is! This game is simple and approachable if you already know chess, and I like what it attempts to do -- add some randomness to make the game more heuristic and less computational. ...but it goes too far, and the game ends up being heavily determined by obvious luck.

My husband and children love adding this to the classic chess game. It's also very fun to watch them play. If your family plays chess try this out.

I wanted it because of the 'hybrid' style, I just like using it more with real pieces. Throws some surprises into the games I play with my nephew. I'm not a competitive chess guy and won't buy one of those stop watch dual clock things, I just play for fun. Pretty cheap, I might get a couple more to be a stocking stuffer for my other nieces and nephews.

Kamikaze chess is a wonderful variant to a classic game. It adds a level of randomness that is fun and delightful while maintaining the traditional moves we all know and love. Get a copy! You won't regret it!
