It covers the same area as a normal pad does. It does not go all the way up the back.

Are there forever chemicals in these?

These definitely run small. I got the size 12-14 for my 8.5 yr old daughter who is 95lbs and is about 4ft 10in tall and they will work for a little while but will have to most likely get a different size later this year. Fabric is soft. Feel a little thin. My daughter just started her cycle so it’s not heavy at this time so I’m thinking they will work for the time being. Do like that they come in different colors.
