Schritte International neu: Kurs- und Arbeitsbuch A1.2 mit CD zum Arbeitsbuch (SCHRINTNEU)

I bought this book for my German Year 1 Level 2 evening class. Just like my previous Schritte 1 textbook, I find it very well organised and easy to follow. Also, I find the contents of its 7 chapters to be very useful in daily activities. Highly recommended.

Its very good for learning german, my only issue with this book is that it doesn't have a dictionary with new words from this book so you can't look any words up, and there is also no tables with nouns and their gender.

A bit of a faff tracking down and downloading the audio and video resources from the app. But these are good quality and are essential for the book!

I had to buy this for a German course, but it has received a lot of negative feedback from the class, including from the teacher. Unfortunately it is, for some reason, a "standard" text book, so we're stuck with it. Firstly we were all immediately disappointed that it didn't carry on with the storyline developed in Schritte 1, which we all warmed too. There is simply /no/ storyline to carry you through Schritte 2. Secondly, the page numbering has to be seen to be believed. Starting from the beginning it goes III->IX, 94->177, 86->162, 27->54, 5->9, and finishes on page 2. Yes, page 2 is directly after page 9, and is at the end of the book. So even being directed to look at a particular page using a page number results in much fiddling about and people looking at the wrong page even though they are looking at a page with the correct page number. And finally, the exercises drive us nuts, because many are cryptic and just figuring out what you are supposed to do is difficult (and sometimes impossible without the aid of a class discussion). They would be a challenge in your own, native language. This is compounded by poor, confusing text layout, so even our teacher (who is native German) struggles with the exercises.

This is the second book I got from this learning academy (the first one was Schritte A.1.1) and I really like the way they explain grammar in a mixture to daily life. At the same time the amount of support material (audios, videos, examples) is amazing. It really makes a difference. First is a bit tricky to get the structure (there are two books merged into one) of the learning book and the working book. I think that it is better to use this material with some support of a teacher then it can even improve your learning experience. In one sentence, great material to learn German!

O CD pode ser ouvido enquanto se dirige ao trabalho. Livro bem moderno e dinâmico e a editora mantém site com áudios e exercícios extras. Um material alemão, onde não se tem nada em português, o aprendiz terá que fazer um trabalho bem pessoal para acompanhar, é necessário dedicação, esforço pessoal e organização para acompanhar o curso.
