What is the difference in size between 96l and the 75l?

The 96 L is a bit bigger for only a little more money. Why they chose to use Liter to describe a bag I don't know But if you click on one that is 75 L and scroll down, it will give dimensions in cm and Inches, then click on one that says 96 L and do same.

Can i use this as check in luggage? Is it sturdy enough? Can i lock it?

I use it to contain two backpacks (together in the large duffel) for checking. The backpacks otherwise have too many straps and dangly bits. I filled the backpacks and it was probably all about 35 pounds together. I wasn't really concerned, but in my case, if it failed, I was fairly confident that the airlines would handle it. I'd probably be uncomfortable if I had to fill it it with 100 loose pieces. It closes with two zipper pulls that meet. You could put a padlock on the two pulls to lock them together. This would really be "keeping honest people honest", though. If someone's willing to cut/tear the bag to look inside, it wouldn't be too hard.

This amazon page states the weight of the bag (not shipping weight) as 0.17lb. Is there an error or is it incredibly light?

It is an error. I just received and weighed the folded/packed item and it was 10.7 ounces, or 0.67 lbs. Almost four times heavier than advertised!

We stuffed two of these bags with clothing and shoes to their max and they held it all perfectly. It probably holds 50 plus pounds.
