What does 97/25 mean?

It's the model number. I called the company and spoke to a customer service representative, this is what she told me. The Napoletane deck seems to be the most popular of authentic Italian card decks, and therefore has more than one model. There are three Napoletane decks produced by Modiano: Napoletane 97-25 (3 1/2" x 2"), Napoletane 97-31 (3 1/2" x 2"), and Napoletane 97-38 (3 1/4" x 2") (sizes given on the Modiano website). Otherwise, the only significant difference appears to be the back design.

Do I need to buy two decks of these cards to play Scopa?

You can but it is not necessary. One deck is sufficient.

Does this deck have a queen?

This Italian card deck does not have a queen per se. The 8 is called 'la donna' or woman, the 9 is the horseman and the 10 is the king. All cards..ace to king have 4 suits each....Diamond, cups, spade and wood or stick. Scopa and several other Italian card games are played with this deck. My husband is from Italy and plays with these more than the decks we know here in America.

What is/are the differences between the napoleante, siciliante, triestine, picieante (or something like that) decks of italian playing cards?

The drawings a figures on the cards are differents.

SCOPA!

SCOPA is a fun & easy card game to play. You can play with your family, friends or anyone, anywhere. I take the deck with me everywhere I go, always ready to teach SCOPA or simply play a game or two at a restaurant, while waiting for my food to arrive. Can't go wrong. Great value! Great price! Cards are high quality, just the right amount of thickness & durable!

Perfect

Perfect. They’re the right cards for playing scopa. Plastic material seems durable. The designs on the cards are the same as ones circulating in Napoli area. Such a fun game to play.

Just like Nona used

Saw complaints about size, but these are the correct size for traditional italian cards. Good quality with the exact art style I grew up with. A little pricey but worth for a good old fashioned game of Scopa. Colors are vibrant and well done. Cards are solid thickness and withstand shuffling.

Excellent.

Initially, these cards are stiff and difficult to shuffle, but once they are broken in, they are much easier to handle. Otherwise, the printing is crisp and paper is sturdy. These cards are great!

Good quality cards, nice design

Beautiful set of cards. Artwork and design is nice and clear, each set is distinguishable and unique. Size is standard, and feels good to shuffle and play with. The deck also comes with two instruction cards teaching Scopa and Briscola, but they are in Italian. Have been using these for tresete and they're great.

Just as I remember

Love this game. About 6 months ago, I looked for my old Scopa cards and couldn't find them. Went online and saw these new and modern Scopa cards. I was going to get them, but they weren't the same feel as my original ones. That's when I found these, just as I remember it from back in the day. Great set of cards. Sturdy, glossy, and as far as the game, one of the best out there.
