EXCELLENT FOR WINDOWS OR LINUX DISTROS
Works perfectly and as advertised. If you intend to use it in Windows 10/11, install it then go to Windows Update | Additional Drivers to install the required Windows driver. There is NO need to search for the manufacturer's website and download from there. Windows will install the proper driver under Windows Update. The 1-star reviews about no driver are simply wrong. My GNU/Linux Parrot OS Security Edition distro running under VMWare recognized it immediately and connected...no external driver had to be installed. Under Parrot, I commanded Monitor mode in Airgeddon and proceeded to test against my wireless router. Worked perfectly. Promptly received a handshake using attack vector #2. Inexpensive. Works as designed. Great value.

The Legendary Atheros 9271 -- It still does not ever disappoint!
The Atheros 9271 has been known for about 10 years as the best hacker friendly USB wifi chipset. Then they disappeared, they designed a disappointing hacker unfriendly v.2...this is the first brand new batch I've seen in at least 7-8 years. 12$ and they still out-perform a few of my Alfa's (cost about 5-6X the $). This isn't the best housing, it seems cheap plastic but it came with plastic film still on it, LEDs work, and the chipset...on 2.4ghz (and only 2.4ghz) I still don't think there's a better toolbag USB wifi to have around for "auditing" pulls handshakes extremely quick, injection is still probably more reliable than modern expensive cards...I was amazed at the range of "auditing" it is still amazing at. For a daily driver, for anything, or for nothing...for 12$ you could buy these and stash them away till this new batch disappears and sell them for 50$ a pop to people in cyber sec communities.

Works great, have to reboot in my VM time to time but may be the host anyway
Works out of the box with Linux kernals. Particularly Kali, and that's through a proxmox vm. It actually seems that direct passthrough for the device works the best, which makes sense, but sucks since I can't share it to other machines on my "ranch". Definitely not for speed but is a capable little device. I do have disable and re-enable the device if it goes unused but that might be power saving on my motherboard or just proxmox itself. Other than that, good purchase. THIS WORKS WITH KALI AS OF 10/6/24 - remember though always check your chipsets :D

Linux Mint 20: NO driver(s) needed. Plug and play!
While plug and play dongles are common for Windows, those of us who prefer Linux have to deal with the many dongles that require VERY complicated and/or unreliable installation. This device is economical, well-made, and is truly plug and play. What a relief! To be fair this unit is made to the 802.11n standard (150 mb/s, 2.4Ghz), but that is quite enough, not to mention - again - plug n play, and inexpensive. I spent hours trying to find a faster PnP unit, but there isn't one. It speed tests fine, good numbers, solid and reliable. Add to this it's antenna, easy disassembly, this is a unit you can carry with you and use to replace a failing WIFI adaptor, or to amplify signal in sketchy locations.

You get what you pay for
FORGET ABOUT IT. The USB adapter does not work. At all. I went through the process of downloading the drivers from the website listed. And it worked ONCE. After unplugging it and plugging it back in, it stopped working. I only bought this because the course I’m taking requires it and the course teacher refuses to help trouble shoot with anyone almost as if they’ve abandoned the class and yet they “updated” it just this month how lame. The course teacher also lists a website which is their own that lasts this same USB as a recommended adapter but for WAY more than is listed here. Avoid the scams and Avoid any coding classes on sale and just exhaust all the free resources you can, you will actually learn something instead of falling into a money trap.

Low cost, arrived quick, and worked just fine
This little thing was great! It’s cheap and arrived quickly before my road trip. I could not find my “expensive” USB WiFi dongle and antenna. This saved the day for me when I was up against the clock.

Works natively with Ubuntu 18.04 but...
As advertised, this does work with Ubuntu, but I noticed non-stop drive activity slowing things down and driving up temps. Found it was causing endless journal log error messages. Soon as I disabled wireless networking it stopped. Also caused boot problems. System would hang in BIOS during boot, had to be removed to boot correctly. My BIOS is set to defaults, safest possible settings. This is an old system running the 32 bit version of Linux. This product is perfectly usable for short periods, and I go delete all the Journal entries afterward. I liked the removable antenna, that lets me use a better one. It's probably perfect on newer systems, I'm not using it now.

not an easy install for windows 10 but perfect for kali linux and cheap enough you can buy back ups
The fact that it is so cheap considering that this adapter can be used to hack with..i think is great...my only issue is the installation file is a pain if you plan to install on windows 10...aside from that it works great and is cheap enough you can buy a couple if it ever breaks you just can't connect to 5ghz but that is fine...you can do monitor mode master mode and packet injestion and kali linux recognizes this chipset instantly so if you are using kali with this adapter you will be fine...

Works great.
Bought this specifically for arm linux (odroid n2+) based on the extensive list over at github (USB_WiFi_Adapters_that_are_supported_with_Linux_in-kernel_drivers). Running armbian 22.11.1 on kernel 6.0.13. Need to install Ath9k firmware.

This is a TP-Link TL-WN722N v1 (Atheros AR9271)
For anyone searching for a TP-Link TL-WN722N v1, this is it in an unbranded form (drivers installed show it as a v1 chip set (Atheros AR9271). No issues to report so far. Build quality is exactly as you would expect at the price point :)
