Serene Innovations Vibrating Alarm Clock for Hearing Impaired – Loud Alarm Clock for Heavy Sleepers Adults – Multimode Sound, Vibration, & Flash Alarm Clocks for The Deaf – Portable Small Clock

The first Serene Innovations VA3 alarm I received failed to work properly in several ways from day one. After returning (thank you Amazon for making the return and reorder so easy!) the item. In less than a week, I received a second VA3 alarm, which has worked exactly as promised. I was principally interested in the vibrating alarm function, which is strong enough to be effective even if I am soundly asleep. Though the vibration is not as jarring as the sound alarm, which has several loudness gradations, it vibrates quite vigorously and gives off a muffled sound that sometimes does awaken my wife. The vibrating function works better than some others I have tried, including my cell phone, It is quite sturdy and can be placed under the pillow or clipped to the pillow case or bedding using the small clip-on-a-lanyard included with the clock. The clock is easy to read, face lights up if any of the function buttons on are briefly pressed. The room-temperature and timer "modes" work fine, as does the small flashlight on one edge of the clock. All-in-all, a well made, well-designed clock with which I am quite pleased because it does well what it was designed to do.

$50 may seem like a lot for a travel alarm clock. And it is much more than so many of the products out there in the $10-$15 range. The big differences to me are that: 1. This alarm is well-made and solid. While larger than many travel clocks, it is not so big as to cause any issues. 2. It will wake you up! Between the noise alarm, the flashing light and the vibration, it works. All of those features are optional. That means no more relying on hotel clocks which are iffy at best. 3. I use this at home as well as travelling. It is that good! Basic features that work extremely well.

You can set this alarm clock to be quite loud and to vibrate at the same time, and it has flashing lights. Might be overkill for some people, but I am hard-of-hearing and don't wear hearing aids at night when I am sleeping, so I need all the help I can get to wake up. I set it on the loudest setting. You can clip it to your pillow so that you feel the vibration (it comes with a short "leash" attached that has a clip on the end). Or you can set it on a hard surface near your head, like on your bedside table. The sound seems even louder there than when damped by your pillow, because the vibrations make it sort of clatter on the hard surface. They may even cause the clock to move about a little, and possibly fall off the table--which might help you even more to wake up. But its efficiency in waking you up does depend on how soundly you sleep, as well as how keen your hearing is and how close to your ears the clock is, and I confess that I have on occasion slept right through it. Check the measurements if you need something small, because this clock is bigger than most travel alarms and heavier. But worth it, if it does the job for you.

So I am very pleased with this alarm clock! It works great!! I gave it four stars because I think it is important for an alarm to go off UNTIL you either turn it off or press sleep. This one does it on its own in a VERY short time window. Also, with today's alarm clocks, I would like to see a dual alarm on it, which I don't. I read the instructions (which are not the best I've seen for electronics) and still nothing, so I guess it just isn't there, which I believe would really make this clock a must have. I work all day, and sometimes I have to get up and work random night or twilight hours and still show up for that 8 am start the next day. As u can imagine, my sleep patterns get thrown off all the time and getting up has become a huge problem for me. With work and school on my plate....this was basically an emergency!! I was sleeping through 5(yes 5!!) alarms spread around my room! I missed tests and was late to work which I have never been!! So far, this alarm has really helped me out. All in all though, it does what it says and works great! This alarm clock is great! Now i can actually get woken up for work. I love the light and shaker best. Vibrates my pillow and its like someone flashing a flashlight in my face. Very much recommend. Love that its small and i can travel with it.

I purchased three of these clocks to help each member of my family wake up. We tried the vibrate option because I am deaf and would not hear an alarm. It only vibrates for 40 seconds and then stops. And let's you sleep as long as you want, in my case, because 40 second of vibration does not bother me enough to wake me up. My dog disturbs me for a longer duration when she is shifting positions now that she is getting old. I need an alarm clock that stays on until I turn it off. I am returning these clocks and getting the old reliable Sonic Boom clock. I thought the Serene clock was so much prettier and had more features but it is not recommended for a person who uses vibration to wake her up.

Though I bought this primarily for the vibration aspect of the alarm, to use at a silent meditation retreat where I didn't want to wake up m dorm mate with an annoying audible alarm, I find that I use it all the time at home. It has a wonderful night light feature - you just hit the top of the alarm and it illuminates the display for about 30 seconds. This is the perfect amount of time for me to get up and go to the bathroom (I carry the clock with me) without waking up my roommate, and then the rest of the time the clock is dark (I hate glowing clocks). It has a flashlight feature too, which I rarely use, since the night light is the perfect amount of light. The alarm works almost too well - it can be quite jolting - but overall I love this clock and would like to have another one; one to keep at home and one to keep in my travel bag. The batteries last forever and I like how easy the display is to read from across the room. As others have mentioned, it is heavier than the standard travel alarm but if you want the vibration feature, I guess that's necessary.

The vibration of this product is very powerful and impossible to sleep through from my experience. The LCD is easy to read and the light works well. In general this is well-equipped with good features. I have previously used cheaper products such as Shake Awake that had unreliable digital displays and less reliable vibration. One thing I think should be present is a battery life indicator; I don't think being late for work would be the best way to find out. I would recommend this product to anyone who cannot reliably waken from sound. I suspect returns diminish with higher prices.
