I purchased the Goldlite 5.4 rod to fish for carp. I didn't want to spend $300 on specialty rod. On a recent trip to my favorite carp spot I hooked a sizeable carp using a top brand fluorocarbon 6 lb tippet. Even with a healthy bend in the rod for cushion the fish just kept on going and snapped the tippet. I re-rigged and it soon happened again. I decided to put this rod to a real test. I re-tied directly to the main line which was 20 lb fluorocarbon. I hooked up again. The fight was on. I fought and landed this fish after about a fifteen minute battle. This was an exceptionally strong fish. The rod handled this abuse with absolutely no damage. I was able to collapes the sections when finished with no problem, even the tip section. I do not recommend using a line this strong but this shows the toughness of these rods. I now own three sizes of the Goldlite series of rods. These rods are true Keiryu rods. The tips are very flexible and the remainder of the rod is fast action. I did some very thorough and exacting tests listed below, which will show the actual rod weight without the plug, measured length, the Common Cents System and the Rod Flex Index test results. Goldlite 6.3, weight 230 gr, 8.1 oz, length 19 ft 8 in, CCS 45, RFT 7.5 Goldlite 5.4, weight 193 gr, 6.8 oz, length 17 ft 8 in, CCS 48, RFT 8.8 Goldlite 4.5, weight 124 gr, 4.4 oz, length 14 ft 2 in, CCS 49, RFT 11.4 I have one minor complaint. While the butt caps are very nicely machined and anodized the thread fit is too loose. To keep from losing the cap I installed o-rings betweenn the cap and the butt of the rod. When you tighten the butt plug against the o-ring you will get a secure retention that will not loosen. This complaint aside I find the workmanship to be outstanding.

I used two of the 24 ft. Goture 720 GOLDLITE, Black rods for the “V” supports of my homebrew Portable 20M Delta Loop Antenna. I used only 11 of the rod sections making each of the rods telescope to 20’-6” long. SWR is very good on both the 20M Band and the low end of the 10M Band. I tested this antenna only on 20M. Using my 100W HF radio in my shed with a battery, I made 39 SSB contacts one afternoon (58/59 Signal Reports from CO., MO. [20W Station], IL., AL., LA., CA., Manitoba CAN., PA. Mobile, WI., TN., SC., North FL., NM., IN., MD., OH., KY., VA, El Paso, TX., FL., Ontario CAN., MN, [3W QRP Station], IA., Vermont [mobile] and NY.). While this antenna is designed to be resonant on 20M (14.2 MHz with 1.52:1 SWR), the SWR is even better on the low end of the 10M Band (1.23:1 at 28.2 MHz). I’ve only tested it on 20M so far but this should be an easily portable HF antenna for POTA excursions. It worked superbly well on 20M and actually should work even better at the low end of the 10M Band without a Tuner. The feed point Balun is my homebrew 4:1 Transformer/Choke Balun. The two FT-140-43 toroids (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0178IABXW/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) are in an 83mm x 53mm x 33mm Junction Box (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JJ2MPT8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1). They are bifilar wound as two 1:1 Choke Baluns connected together to make a 4:1 Transformer/Choke Balun – (i.e., a smaller version of the M0PZT design). The antenna wire is ~65.8’ of POLYS-22. For testing I simply used Electrical Tape to attach the wire to the outside edges of the carbon fiber fishing rods and a small Zip Tie (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01018DB2E/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1) at each of the two rod tips. 1st Photo is the two Goture 720 telescoping fishing rods in their cases, the boom assembly (all glued) from left to right is 1” PVC 45° Elbow-1” x 6” PVC-1” PVC Tee- 1” x 6” PVC-1” PVC 45° Elbow and my homebrew 4:1 Balun. When assembled for operation, the two 1” x 8” PVC pieces are stuck into the open ends of the 1” PVC Elbows and the 8” pipes hold the large ends of the fishing rods. I used a 1” x 5’ piece of 1” PVC as the mast putting the bottom part of the “V” at about 5’ and the top part of the “V’ at about 25’. The 2nd Photo is the antenna as it was set up for testing (a 1” x 5’ PVC pipe “mast” was duct taped to a T-Post). The extra wire seen below the tips of the fishing rods in that photo is part of my homebrew 585’ Loop Skywire antenna in the background. The 3rd photo is my Antenna Analyzer displaying the antenna’s SWR Chart for the 20M Band. The 4th photo is the Antenna Analyzer displaying the antenna’s SWR Chart for most of the Ham Bands (note that the antenna’s SWR Minimum is at 1.23:1 SWR at 28.2 MHz on the 10M Band). These are great rods for supporting Amateur Radio antennas.

Another ham using these as antenna supports, so I can't comment on it for fishing. I bought this for EFHWs as inverted Vs and slopers. Not a bad price for the height versus those from Spiderbeams and the like, though not nearly as packable as the SOTAbeams poles. This packs down into about a 2 foot base section, which is still suitcase-packable and not too unwieldy lashed to a hiking pack. Surmising it was the stiffest, I bought the Goldlite model. It's -plenty- stiff, save for the top section; I probably could have gotten away with a slightly lighter/cheaper model without sacrificing the stiffness I need for this purpose. Nicely finished with a push-fit end cap on the business end and a threaded aluminum cap on the base. The first unit I bought unfortunately jammed while deploying and cracked in three places, but the replacement hasn't on two uses. For this specific purpose I'd highly recommend getting the longest model, and forgoing the very last whip section, instead gluing a fishing pole end ring to the second-to-last section. You lose some nominal height, but the section with the Lilian string sags down anyway, and bends a little too much for my comfort.

I ordered the 7.2m pole, I have not used the pole yet. However, I did measure the pole and found the measurements significantly different than what is advertised. I little more research is warranted to fully understand their deceptive description. According to Amazons page, this is sold as a 7.2m collapsable pole. I expected the pole to extend to 7.2m (23.6 feet). When I fully extended the pole I received in my hallway, I measured 248 inches (20.6 feet, 6.3m). The pole is marked on the side identifying it as a 7.2m length. 6.3m is significantly different than 7.2m. According to the GOTURE product page, the description of the pole states the 7.2m pole, when fully extended, will be just over 22 feet (6.7m). Evidently the 7.2m measurement is when the length of all individual pieces are added together and not when the pieces are interlocked and fully extended. Even then mine was short almost 2 feet (0.6m) based on GOTURE product page. SOME POSITIVES: It is an attractive pole, it is super light, and easy to deploy and breakdown. It nest within itself and is packable (it is not an ultra subcompact pole). THE UNKNOWN AND CONS: Durability, who knows. GOTURE was very "generous" about the actual fully extended length, I am sure they are "generous" about the durability. They do include extra the top 3-tips, so I imagine these break often enough they just include them. There are small, so the strength is limited (not a criticism but an observation). However, if the manufacturer cannot be reasonably accurate about the length, I suspect they are not accurate on the durability. A few centimeters short is questionable, a full meter short is not reasonable. Buyer, you have been warned. When it breaks (if it breaks), I am not sure I would replace it with the same pole. I would probably just go to Bass Pro Shop and buy an American made B&N Black Widow crappie pole. I cannot recommend based on solely on the false manufacturers descriptions.

The pole works great using it for ham radio antennas. I used it in the field with quite a bit of tension on it, and it never gave up. I haven't had any of the problems collapsing it like others say. I keep it collapsed and attached to my portable bag. Would definitely get another.

Overall not terrible quality as far as flex and functionality. However I got a ton of splinters expanding and retreating this pole. Took about an hour to get all the little flecks out. Wear gloves when using!

Well this was the best low cost bang for the buck for a 24 foot fishing pole antenna mast. I wrapped 33 feet of speaker wire around the pole to make a helical vertical for 40 meters. But 40 meters was dead, so I loaded it up on 20 meters and made some solid contacts with it. I'll be setting up portable on a mountain tomorrow to try it out in the field. At some point I'll get another one of these fishing poles for my permanent installation at home. It weighs next to nothing so putting it up and taking it down for a stealth HOA antenna is pretty quick and easy .

I have had "tenkara" style rods for years that cost up to $100 and these $25 poles have an extra set of tips. I first purchased them in 2018 in both 12 and 15 foot rods. I buy the lightest, Red Fox, due to weight. I was very happy until this year when I broke 5 rods during a one month trip. All of the breaks occurred in the 3rd section of the rod, in both the 12 and 15 foot lengths. We use these in south Florida and have caught everything from Bluegill, largemouth, catfish, crappie, tilapia, Oscars, Mayans and the occasional Peacock bass.. They are extremely lightweight, which is what we are after for fishing 12 hours straight. We use them more as a cane pole than a fly rod so casting isn't a big deal. We generally have a float of some kind(cork, bobber, float, depending on your neck of the woods), with either a small jig head or light wire hook and live bait. The small jig heads seem to help with bluegill swallowing the bait down to their tail so you wind up having to break off the hook or kill the fish. I don't know what they're doing differently, but there is obviously a flaw at some point in the manufacturing process now compared to 5 years ago. I fully understand the technique needed to use this rod. As I said earlier, I have been using them for years and have been very happy with them. The tip would occasionally break, normally in the 2nd section, so you basically got 2 rods for the price of one. I think I have about a jillion rod sections now and can assemble maybe 5 complete rods. I broke them lifting bluegill out of the lake??? You can see in the pic that the same exact rod has the graphics applied differently, so maybe they are using multiple factories to manufacture them? Either way I will buy a couple more 15' rods this year and give them a try, hoping for the quality I got several years ago.

The rod was solid for float fishing, carp especially, I bought it for the exact reason. When I received the rod, the string on the tip was dis-attached from the rod and I cannot find replacement in the local market and I had to use the backup 3 tip came with the package. However, after a few round of communication, they agreed to send me a replacement of the top 3 tip which I received today. Shipping was fast, package was thorough, nothing was damaged from the oversea transportation. Thank you.

Primary use for me is float fishing for carp. We don't seem to have many small ones here... I got the 7.2m goldlite, which is supposed to be super hard action, but with a 3-4kg carp on the end you're using most of the length to fight the fish. I broke the 2nd section trying to land a fish. Don't go more than 1 o'clock with any strain or it'll snap. Probably better suited to fish 2kg or less, but I've landed a couple nudging 4kg. Takes some thoughtful angling to turn the fish though. Not as well made as other Chinese tenkara and keiryu rods, but still pretty good for the price. Glad it comes with a spare top 3 sections, though I may need more spares if I'm not careful. Hopefully they're available and not too pricey...
