Great for quick bonds, not so great for inlays
This was described to me as water-thin, but it's almost thinner than water, as it seems to have a lower surface tension. I'm not sure though.I decided to try this because I am working with inlays and wanted to see if this would be helpful when doing very fine work with voids in the <1mm range and particles in the <0.2mm range, being more cost-effective since there would be very little running or dripping, with everything soaking in almost at once.It doesn't set instantly, as is suggested, when working with a significant volume of material, you still have a little working time. You can put a few drops in some fine powder, quickly stir it, then apply it to your workpiece and it sets in less than 60s, instead of between 5-30m with the Heavy Thin, with the numbers varying considerably based on the specific material, surface area of the inlay, and room temperature. Personally, I found it too quick to be useful for anything other than repairing a divot or filling a void; only in that situation is it more useful than thicker glue, because although they cure in about the same time you waste less with the thin.I imagine this will be useful in fixing larger grains within an inlay before adding the powder, and for doing non-inlay repair work. As superglues go it seems to be very good - even when I didn't store my Starbond glue in the fridge, it still remained liquid and fully usable for years in the original bottle, something not duplicated by any other brand I've tried. So if you are looking for a general-purpose thin superglue, this is a good choice. For an all-rounder, I'd instead recommend heavy thin or medium, as that is much easier to work with and has more bulk to it.
