The Casual Home 5-Shelf Ladder Bookcase is a simple and attractive bookshelf that adds a delightful point of interest to a room while displaying books and other decorative items. The shelf is easy to assemble, has a nice sturdy feel to it, and has "steps" that are wide enough to hold many items. I was able to assemble the shelf by myself within an hour - it probably would've taken less time had I not been on the phone chatting - and once assembled, it looks simple but beautiful. I love how the wood feels sturdy and is evenly stained with no blemishes, dents, or dings in the wood, and how durable to shelf feels. It is free-standing, so it's not necessary to lean up against the wall, and it comes with straps to attract it to a wall to avoid tippage or the chance of it falling over, which is great for people who live in earthquake country as I do. The color is as rich and pretty as it is in the stock photo and each shelf is durable enough to hold a good number of decor pieces and books. Overall, it's a great shelf to consider if you are looking for a non-boxy-looking shelf to fill a small space.

Love this shelf! It's perfect for all my plants and is a beautiful addition to my home. It took less than 30 minutes to put together by myself. The needed allen wrench is included, but you'll need a Philips head for the small brackets that hold the top and bottom portion together. The shelf is very stable and I wouldn't be afraid of it tipping over or anything. In a very bright light, it has a reddish tint, but is not as red as it appears in my picture. FYI for fellow planters: only the front half of the bottom two shelves gets light from my grow light since the rest are covered by the upper shelves, but it works fine for me. Overall, a great value for $78. My only concern is that the top and bottom halves are only held together by the two small brackets that are attached only on the back of the shelf. If you were to try to lift the shelf by the upper half, it would probably separate from the bottom portion. Whenever I need to move the shelf, I work around this by consciensciously grabbing it by the bottom half, but this might bother some people.

Very happy with this item for my college apartment. Was super easy to assemble and it is pretty sturdy, of course it'll shift a bit if you are manhandling it and pushing it around but there is no issue at all for once you have it together and in your spot. It was helpful to read other reviews here to know what to look for when determining what part of each shelf is the top or bottom and so forth, the color is a little lighter and not as finished on the bottom I think. Only negative point is some things don't line up perfectly, but that is ok and to be expected at such an affordable price! And something no one will notice once you have it set up. I added pictures of the worst spot showing this, but the rest was very minimal. Very satisfied and it is a beautiful color!

Such a beautiful color! The Espresso is a deep, dark rich brown. Almost like dark chocolate. The shelf arrived with all pieces intact, no damage. Very high quality piece of furniture for an online purchase. So easy to put together, as clear instructions provided. The unit was assembled in about 20 min even with using the allen wrench. The only smell I noticed was the wood, nothing foul requiring airing out. Using this unit to display some antique bears. Everything fits perfectly and while the bears do not not haveuch weight, the unit is sturdy and easy to move around. Thus far, very happy with the performance and appearance of this ladder shelf. Loving this purchase!

Great shelf ladder. This is perfect if you just need something not too flashy in a smaller room. I have a decent size wall in my living room which has a large fireplace and a 65" 4K TV mounted above. The side walls are not too large, and I needed something simple to house some pictures, a plant or two, few books, and my electronic receivers, etc. This was perfect. It's not giant, doesn't stick out, and seems plenty sturdy. The wood is quality (it's not particle or something that will break with a decent amount of weight without feeling concerned. It took about 30 minutes to put together... not bad at all. They even provide some brackets to mount to your wall for extra stability if you want (didn't feel the need to do this - seemed excessive). Considering shelving at a high end furniture store is going to run you $500 for something similar in looks, this was a steal. I wouldn't be surprised if the price is upped on this. I will say if you're going for some elaborate shelving or have a HUGE wall to fill, I'd probably look for something more bulky. This is fine if you have 3-4 feet of wall to work with, but if you have a LARGE wall space outside of TV/fireplace you need to add shelving too, try something else. Perfect for it's intended use (small wall, simple TV component/shelving).

Great ladder shelf and easy to put together. Love that the parts are easily divided into step by step compartments.

Very easy to assemble, sturdy, and tall. The only issue is that the upper part doesn't secure as well as I would have hoped to the lower half. There is hardware to secure it the wall which would make it more sturdy, however the hardware doesn't work if you have floor trim because the shelf doesn't sit flush against the wall. You could use the wall hardware to attach the upper and lower parts together more securely. Overall, great shelf.

This was such a great find. It was cheap for what it was but it does not look or feel cheap at all. I have a lot of books on this thing so it is very sturdy and I even caught my kids attempting to climb it once and it help up. Highly recommend you will not be disappointed. Also it was insanely easy to assemble.

Great corner shelf. Easy to put together

Perfect piece, great finish, exactly what I Was looking for in my living room. Easy to assemble, went together quickly and easily. Great height and size, and I love that it actually has four legs that all rest on the ground making it freestanding, unlike many other ladder bookcases that have to rest against the wall. Only downside, there are two support brackets to hold the top and bottom halves of the bookcase together, and the holes for these are drilled on the outside instead of the inside of the bookshelf, and they are metal, not finished to match so they stand out. Not a deal breaker but something to consider, I think they should have been used on the inside of the shelf space instead of the exterior, or colour matched, or both.

This was received quickly, easy to assemble, and looks great. We got it to replace a square table. Now we get as much storage space but with a smaller footprint on the floor. It has good height to provide 5 shelves of storage. We got it mainly to neatly place wifi devices, some pictures, and art but might get another one to organize game consoles.
