Super efficientโ very clean!
We have used Pet Safe products for all of our animals and the new model of the scoop free litter box has been an absolute game changer at home. The convenience factor is incredible and being able to assemble it in a few minutes is great. The disposable pads are awesome and it is substantially less smelly than other โself cleanersโ. Pre-portioned crystals combined with an easy entry point for cats make this the Cadillac of litter boxes. Iโd give this 10 stars if I could!

AVOID THIS NEW MODEL, STICK WITH THE OLDER MODELS!!!
If I could give this zero stars I would. I have been using PetSafeโs ScoopFree self-cleaning little box for years and this most recent litter box (the upgraded/ new edition) is absolutely awful. Out the gate, the hood doesnโt properly fit onto the housing, so it juts out on one side or the other high. Normally I wouldnโt care about except for the fact that I have an arthritic senior cat who tends to pee on the sides of the litter box: enter pee running down the sides of the box because the hood wonโt attach as advertised. Next up is the clean up with this model: while it looks elegant and spiffy, there are noticeable gaps between the hatch cover and the sides of the litter box. When you go to replace the trays loose litter falls everywhere from being kicked into and underneath the hatch cover. Now for the best part: after 4 months the arm has completely stopped working. Iโve done soft and hard resets, removed the arm, unscrewed and attempted to fix the mechanics to no avail. So here I am, 7:45pm with a screaming newborn, a hyperactive toddler, two senior cats who need to use the restroom and a broken, brand new litter box. Save yourself the money and get the old version if you can find it.

No smell!!!
This is a great litter box, so far itโs been helpful and no problem. Very simple to set up and it has been working as itโs supposed to. My regular litter box used to smell so fast as this one hasnโt smelled at all. Itโs been a big help and it was a great price ๐

Works great - one drawback
Overall really happy with this automatic litter box; it does exactly what it promises. Setup was straightforward, and my cat took to it surprisingly quickly. The self-cleaning mechanism works reliably, odor control is noticeably better than a traditional box, and it's been running without any issues. My only real gripe and the reason this isn't five stars, is the disposable tray system. Needing to buy replacement trays on a recurring basis feels like a cash grab, and they're not cheap. For a product at this price point, a reusable tray should absolutely be included in the box. It's a bit of an annoying ongoing cost that I wish I'd researched before. That said, the core product works great and my cat approves. Just do your research before purchasing.

worked for 3 days before malfunctioning due to saturated crystals
Not very happy so far. I had an older version of this (purchased around 2015) that worked quite well for several years. The litter became prohibitively expensive and we switched to a regular litter box for 3 years. After 3 years of that, I decided to go back to this. My cat took to it right away - I think he prefers this one due to its size and that it is always fresh a few mins after he goes. However so far I am disappointed with the overall system. The box came with one tray of crystals, and after 3 days it started erroring out on its return after scooping due to getting stuck. The rake was getting clogged with wet crystals. I mixed up some of the wet crystals with dry. But two days later (5 days since starting) the crystals (and tray) are literally saturated with urine to the point that it is pooling in the bottom. This kind of tray/crystals used to last 3, maybe 4 weeks? Now after 5 days I had to swap the litter tray and clean up a huge mess too. Unless my cat peed what, a cup or more a day? Maybe he pees more since he's older now, but still, 3 days before malfunctioning? Was the bag of crystals it came with only a small "starter" bag to get you going for a week? Didn't seem like it - there was a good amount in the tray. Maybe it was the crystals that were bad somehow? I don't know. I want to give the box itself a chance so I got a refill (8lb bag) from PetSafe to try that out in a reusable tray. Not sure what I'll do if the same thing happens.

New version not as hardy as the previous version. Save your money, go with the older version.
We have been using PetSafe brand litter box system for 5 years. The older one would have to have it's lead screw maintained every 3-4 months....and we were good with that. This new version, we bought when we moved, we set it up and it ran great, until the warranty (6 months) ran out. The rake stopped working, and the display went blank. Since it was out of warranty, my husband tried taking it apart to fix it, but the display needs to be replaced. Now with the rake not working either, we're ready to pitch this and go back to the older variety that lasted for 5 years. For over $200 this should have at least lasted 5 years. Sad. :(

A Reliable, Low-Maintenance Solution for Cat Owners
The PetSafe ScoopFree Crystal Plus has exceeded my expectations in every way. The automatic self-cleaning system works consistently and keeps the litter area spotless with zero effort on my part. The crystal litter offers outstanding odor control, making it an excellent choice for small apartments or homes where scent is a concern. Setup is simple, the build quality feels solid, and the disposable trays make maintenance incredibly hygienic and convenient. My cat adapted quickly, and the overall experience has been far more efficient than any traditional litter box Iโve used. If youโre looking for a dependable, hands-free litter box that truly reduces daily chores, this product is an excellent investment. Highly recommended.

PetSafe Is Greedy
They want you to purchase their replacement trays. I've had a PetSafe ScoopFree for a while over 10 years. I replaced one along the way and this is the fourth one I've purchased. They took the counter off this one. Why? Don't know but the old one I had even at the same price point had the counter. It is sent with a tray. I purchased a PetSafe ScoopFree plastic tray when I first purchased my first two units in 2018. It worked with the third one I bought when I replaced one of the original two. With this one it doesn't work. It doesn't work because they have decided that it's best to make more money from us and put a sensor in the tray so the resuable plastic tray won't work but this was until I discovered a sensor in the cardboard liner and removed it and put it on the plastic tray. All and all for the price point it's not a bad unit but over the years as something is supposed to get better it's not supposed to have features removed. The price hasn't gone down but they're taking away the counter and the ability to use their own reusable plastic tray.

Do not buy this for the reusable litter tray.
Do not buy this if you are using the reuseable litter tray. The sensor will not be able to tell if you changed the box and it'll stop working.

Not a lot of poo space
This litter box does clean up the poo. The pee doesn't clump so it just sits in the crystals. There is not enough space for the poo to collect. Makes it difficult to clean the poop out unless you want to replace the disposable tray everyday but they are $99 for 3 trays. I ended up buying the steel tray separately. I have 2 cats.
