I am in transition right now around my career. I have a job but want to move into a different kind of job. I signed up for a workshop given by Amanda Owen and was told to get and read the book before the workshop which takes place in a few months.I found this book really straight forward and easy to understand and the concepts all seemed right on the money. What I have been really surprised by is how very powerful the exercises have been and the impact that those exercises have had on my life. Each exercise comes at the end of a chapter and appear at first glance to be very simple. My first few reactions were "oh, I have done this before or yeah, I am familiar with this kind of exercise". But given my motivation to get a job and get clear about what I am trying to manifest, I have dutifully stepped through the exercises and keep doing them and revisiting them.Suddenly I am having all kinds of synchronistic things happening around my job hunt. Through one of the exercises I got clearer and clearer about what I want in my next job. The concept is that when you get crystal clear about what you want, the universe can then respond. I am finding books that have helped me, people offering to connect me to people and doors opening for me that have been closed before. I am also noticing that when I do something for someone, they are extremely eager to repay me with some kind of act in return, such as connect me with someone who can help me with my job search. I am struck by the kindness and generosity of people. Either people are getting better or I am learning how to fully receive what people have to offer.Amanda predicts that these exercises are powerful but I wasn't prepared for just how powerful they are. I keep recommending the book to my friends because it seems everyone is trying to create something in their lives. This book should be a part of everyone's tool kit!I have this book on my ipad and keep going back to different sections to reread.

I saw someone post a link to this book on a Facebook group one day- and it stopped me in my tracks. Despite the stack of books I still have yet to read, something compelled me to order this book right away as I needed to "receive" it's message.My intuition served me that day, as when I first opened the book and read only the preface and first chapter I had chills. I thought "Every woman I know needs to read this book!"Amanda Owen's insights are an absolute revelation. There is a reason she has a 5 start rating on her book- it's that good! That is unprecedented. Once I began practicing the steps she breaks down in her book, I began to experience shifts and see positive changes happen in my life. One of my favorite quotes "Those who are unable to receive are only attracted to those who are unable to give". Powerful, right?I have never done this with an author before, but I was so inspired to learn more about Amanda that I researched her and reached out to her to coach me on being an better receiver. Turns out she has a coaching business on the topic. Having her to by my side and answering my questions has taken my receiving skills to an entirely new level. In fact, I have been so impressed that I am now in the process of creating a weekend "The Power of Receiving" workshop for women in my network where Amanda will come and teach our group how to collectively be better receivers. I can not wait to experience what it's like to be among women with their receiving skills amplified.Please do yourself a favor and get this book, read it, and share a copy with a girlfriend. Your life, and your friend, will thank you for it.

Amanda Owen's "The Power of Receiving" saved my life. I read it shortly after it was published and released on Amazon, where I purchased it. It was my antidote. I had been going through a very difficult relationship break-up at that time and this book helped me to put so much into perspective. I began to look at my goals in such a new way, and suddenly found myself "un-stuck" for the first time in many years. I was liberated by the simple, yet useful ideas and "how-tos" that Ms. Owen cleverly weaves into her chapters. It has been several years since I have read this book, but I continue to refer to it and it maintains its place on my night stand!This book is a must-read for anyone who has ever wondered why they have not been able to achieve the kind of life they want to live. I have recommended "The Power of Receiving" to many of my friends and colleagues and given it as a gift to several people who enjoyed it as much as I did. I purchased this book as part of an attempt to better understand a difficult, end-of-life situation, one that had immediate family members, including this reader, searching for answers and a reason why. What I received was abetter understanding of, and an appreciation for, how we interact with one another; how our perceptions of and actions toward our loved ones shape our lives, and theirs. The gift was an ever-so-brief opportunity to say "hello" to a long-lost friend from high school days, the author. And a commitment to let Amanda know what I thought of "The Power of Receiving." And I say this, Amanda: If you've never searched for a so-called "self-help/help others" book in your life, you might want to start here, with TPOR. It quickly gets to the heart of the matter at hand and offers direction - and a means - to effect positive change in the lives of those we live with, or without, as the case may be. It's easy to read, easy to understand, and easy to put into action, in part or whole. Write, Amanda. Write!

Love this book. The author really taught me how to change my beliefs and thoughts to make my dreams become reality. I was struggling with set-deprecating behavior and this book really helped open my eyes and challenge my negative thoughts. I owe it to this book for helping me attract the job I’m at right now into my life.
