You're thinking of a different sort of body armour. Integrated chain mail will make it stab proof if you happen to have any. Are you practising the lost art of jousting using the modern twist of motorcycles rather than horses? Kevlar material will take up the brunt of any scraping across tarmac you may have if you come off the bike, so that your skin doesn't need to do it, as this would render you squeeling in pain. Kevlar is tougher than standard cotton, so will withstand more and keep you better protected. The CE armour is mostly thick rubber that will just absorb a bit of the shock in the places you're most likely to hit the ground at 70mph, though I imagine it wouldn't stop such an impact breaking your bones should you fall off your bike or get hit by the joust.

Can i put it in the washing machine?

Yes take armour out and 30deg wash. Hang on a hanger to dry do NOT tumble dry..hope this helps my friend has done this too
