Safe-T-Air Cleaner with Tea Tree Oil - 2 Pound Jar

This is an interesting product. I ended up putting some in numerous spice containers that have the covers with the holes in them. Then I put them all over the house. We live in the woods so we have mold. But, we have pets and smoke and whatever else. they seem to do a really good job of clearing the air. I am pleased with this purchase.

Works great but my last two orders were liquid and not a gel. This causes them to evaporate in roughly 4 weeks on my sail boat vs. the smaller (1/2 the size!) container of Kanberra gel that has been going for 8+ weeks and still has life. Based on price per ounce / gram I thought this was the better deal. I was wrong. It ends up being over twice as expensive to continually use. I guess this is the reason my local marine stores only stock the real Australian Tee Tree oil.

I have purchased this product before from a catalog. What I received was not what I expected. There was no seal on the jar as there should have been. The product should be in a somewhat solid form. The one I received was a thick liquid. The smell was overpowering and I can’t leave the jar open for any length of time. This was not a problem with the solid product I purchased in the past. The solid form left only a hint of tea tree while also freshening the air. The jar could be left open all the time. Especially disappointed because of the price. The product I received in the past was worth the cost because the solid form lasted a long time. I can’t be certain the liquid product will last. Have e-mailed the vendor and waiting for a reply. Certainly can’t return this mess, so hoping for a refund or replacement.

We use these in our AC ducts on our boat. Mold and mildew have a tendency to grow inside the flexible ducts, begin to smell musty, and aggravate allergies. Within a day or two placing these in the return air ducts the odor was gone and so were my sniffles! Highly recommend it.

I tried a jar of Safe T Air after getting tired of the constant musty odor I encountered whenever I went down into my finished basement. Febreze would mask the odor for an hour or so, but it would always come right back. I was familiar with tea tree oil before buying Safe T Air, and when I opened the jar I was immediately greeted by its slightly mediciney (but pleasant) menthol-like aroma. After just a day of leaving the jar open in my basement, the musty smell was gone. Not masked but completely GONE. Apparently as the tea tree oil evaporates, it spreads throughout the basement into every little crack and actually kills any molds or fungi that cause stale odors. It's not a permanent fix, because the sources of those odors will always return unless you make major structural changes to your home. But I find that opening a new jar once every 2 or 3 months keeps the area smelling fresh.

First things first- if you have an extensive mold problem somewhere in your house this product is not going to a- prevent it for you or b- remove it. Some reviewers seem to be under this impression, which is unfair to expect from this product.It does a reasonable job of removing indoor air pollution by controlling mold, bacteria, and fungi. The scent is noticeable, but not overwhelming. I sleep in a basement bedroom and it really freshens the air down there!

Pro: (a big pro actually) It definitely helps control odors with very little odor of it's own. The only noticeable scent is a light teatree scent that just smells clean. The price is better than Kanberra, which is the other similar product I've tried.Cons: the texture is terrible. It's nearly liquid. The packaging sucks. The lid screws off to a gaping jar of slightly thickish liquid. You could stick your whole hand in it if you wished. I was expecting something with holes or a screen or something to prevent it from being totally open and help prevent sloshing, no such luck. I'd be very reluctant to use it on a boat or RV where rough waters or tight turns and bumps could cause a giant mess.With kids and pets in my house, I'm definitely going back to the Kanberra gel which has a much better (thicker) texture and is not as inviting for little hands and tongues. The higher price of that is worth it.The price

I was a little concerned when I opened this and was overpowered by the aroma, but that dissipated after a week. It got rid of the funky odor in my bathroom which is all that matters. I kept it on the toilet tank, but it was like having a jar of soupy pistachio pudding in a utility jar there - not something I'd decorate with. :) I wish it had a screen with holes that would let me put it on the floor. The jar is a wide open mouth and I hesitated to do that because I have animals. It lasted about a month or two so it's worth the price. We'll see if the hinky odor returns before I but another.
