It was difficult to determine my shade based on the photos provided. It took me 2 times so I could order and try. This one was far too light for me. I knew I liked the light balm texture and coverage so I ordered the next shade and it was a better color match. I would recommend buying at least two so you can test what works best for you. It’s a lighter consistency and texture than some other balm foundations I’ve tried. I like that it combines a bit of spf, too. It dries down decently but I still use a setting powder or a setting spray to get a bit more longevity out of it. It’s the perfect foundation for the summer! There is a small puff applicator but I tend to use my fingers and works fine. I would say it’s between light to medium coverage. It is buildable. It does cover redness and dark spot.

The foundation itself is not bad. It applies very smoothly and is moisturizing. However, I do notice that it leaves your skin looking a bit shiny due to the extra moisture of Olay. Depending on your skin type, you may need to apply a powder to tone down the shine. Also, the container/compact is a disaster. The part where the actual product is has a screw top and I keep dropping the lid once I’ve unscrewed it. The sponge applicator is in the flip top section which makes no sense. They should have put it the other way around or design a completely different compact for easier one step access. The way it’s designed now, you need to flip the lid on one side, take the sponge out, then shut the lid, flip it to the other side, then unscrew the top, set the lid down or drop it like I do ;), then apply your makeup and reverse the process to put it away. Whew! I’m going to stick to my Covergirl AquaSmooth which comes in a sensible compact with a mirror and no loose lids. Also, no shiny skin. I do have to say that the Olay Simply Ageless does come with a nicer sponge applicator.
