I have curly temperamental hair (some fine/normal,coarse in other spots like my crown) in varying lengths at bra strap length. Some strands are bleached and hennaed. Some strands are virgin hair. I have layers that have grown out(botched wolfcut) and I am wickedly overdue for a trim.With all this hair and varying textures,I can detangle my hair in 10 minutes. Now, you SHOULD use a product that will offer slip but I have used this brush and water and only shed hair came out. Doesn't hurt to use. Bristles don't break off your hair.
