Big Improvement Over My Last ROG Computer
The computer was packaged very well. Overall performance of the computer is very good. I did upgrade the RAM to 64GB as 16GB was not enough. After installing all the software that I use, and having quite a few Chrome tabs open, the system was using nearly half the RAM. My old ROG maxed out at 16GB and was using just under 20 percent. I upgraded the RAM with the Crucial RAM 64GB Kit (2x32GB) DDR5 5200MHz (or 4800MHz). Some people said that their TUF Gaming F17 2023 recognized the 5200 MHz. Mine did not. The upgraded memory did make the computer Boot faster and improved overall performance. I did disable some programs in the task manager. I still need to look some up to see if I can disable those programs. ASUS and Microsoft need to do a better job at reducing the program's use of resources. Overall it was a great upgrade and would recommend the computer. The only downside was the amount of RAM installed. I do plan on upgrading the SSD drive to a larger 2 terabyte drive in the future. I am hoping that it lasts as long as my previous ASUS G550J that I purchased back around 2014.

My Eyes Have Been Blown Away!
So I was waiting for a bit to do a review on this product as I wanted to really test it out hard in case I missed anything. But now that it's been a couple of weeks since I got this product as a Christmas present, I am happy to give my report on this computer. I love, love, LOVE this new laptop. It was a surprise gift to help replace an older laptop that had finally met its end a few months back. Once I opened this up on Christmas day, my eyes fell upon this laptops amazing exterior. It has a tough and durable laptop casing (which was defiantly what this laptop was described to be) with a nice smooth feel to it all around. The keyboard is easy to type with, but I'd prefer to use a standalone keyboard as I don't want to damage my newly received computer for a while. Because of that, I decided to buy a keyboard cover to make sure nothing gets in between the cracks of this awesome RBG backlighting for this keyboard. The touchpad is nothing to sneeze at either as its super smooth to the touch, and even allows the mouse to glide across the screen with ease. It's so much smoother than my previous laptop, plus, you only really need to slide your finger across the touchpad only a few inches for the mouse to zoom across your screen. No more of that finger issue where you have to literally fling your hand across just for it to move halfway across your screen. Now you do have to mess around with this laptop's specs a little bit to get the best performance out of it in certain areas, but its so worth the tinkering and personalization feel to get that perfect setting you want from any software you are using. You can set the laptop to anything you need it to be set at without overclocking your laptop in areas where it doesn't need to go hard on. For example, I set a lower fan speed for my chill sessions whenever I am just naturally browsing online, and then have the laptop automatically set to turbo fan speed for those extra long gaming sessions... which by the way, is visually AMAZING to see on this laptop. Specs wise, I know that this laptop isn't top tier with its CPU and GPU settings, but oh my gosh, its still an amazing laptop not only for its price range, but also what it can handle. It can play the best AAA games and is perfect for playing some older retro style gameplays too. It has a MUX switch which allows the laptop to tell it when to switch between the CPU and GPU for maximum gameplay style which I love so much as my old laptop couldn't do that at all. Obviously, it will start to stutter a bit if the sessions are longer than normal as the laptop gets a bit toasty due to overplaying some games which happens within about maybe 30 minutes to 1 hour of full gameplay mode. I'm not sure if that's due to some sort of thermal paste issue or not, but honestly, any laptop would start to get a bit toasty after a while of computer use anyways. But that is why I invested in addition to this laptop, in a cooling fan. I figure, I got this laptop as a gift, why not try to extend its life a little more too. The cooling fans help to cool down the laptop a little further in addition to its natural fans that its using to help cool itself down. This gives my laptop a little more breathing room to play more games a little while longer with its crystal smooth 144 Hz imaging, and looks jaw dropping with its picture coloring of sRGB 100%. Not that 90% that I see most computers and laptops coming in these days. There are some disappointments on this version of laptop however. One of them happens to be that it only comes with 512 GB SSD worth of storage for your computer. I was looking around for a 2 TB storage laptop as this version kind of fills up fast with some applications that I wanted to put back onto it, but the price for any 1 TB SSD at the time was a bit out of my hands, but this wasn't really that bad of a deal for its storage unit. I do plan to upgrade it one day as it does have the ability to upgrade its storage anyways. Which also brings me to my other issue of its RAM storage. Only 16 GB of RAM storage for this laptop. Its not terrible as I was only able to upgrade my previous laptop from 8 to 12 GB of RAM after a while, so 16 is a refreshing boost in performance for me. But I would have loved to see a 32 or even a 64 GB version of this if it had it as most things now these days are starting to require people to have 32 GB as the latest standard buy these days. Obviously there is a RAM shortage going on right now so I'm not pushing my luck on trying to buy anything tech related at the moment without burning through any savings I have left. Again, this could be a future endeavor for me to try as time goes on and once things start to die down a bit. In conclusion, yes, the specs of this laptop are a little lower than most laptops as far as what most hardcore gamers are looking for these days. But I honestly have to say this laptop is sooooo much better than most other laptops in its category. If you can get your hands on this laptop, I'd say get your hands on it right now. Its amazing and it gets the job done. The price isn't that bad either, but I've already seen the price going up recently which should tell you that this laptop is getting bought a lot. Honestly, that's a great indication that this laptop is still worth the buy. I'd defiantly buy another one to give to another family member of mine who is also having problems with their older laptop model if I could. I promise, if you are looking for a new laptop, get yourself this one hands down.
