Massive performance
I just couldn't believe the performance from this small router. Unboxed and pluged it in ran a speed test. I got 318gbs download and 22gbs upload; mind you I had a external mobile ariel connected to it.

Initial impressions are good!
I have recently been experiencing some issues with my Netgear Nighthawk Pro 6 and Pro 7 units so I purchased the NX500 to evaluate either as a replacement or as an alternative. I have only done limited testing at home so far but will be travelling soon and will take it with me to provide in-room connectivity at the hotel. The unit is plastic and reasonably light. It’s perhaps unfair to say it feels cheap but it certainly does not feel substantial. I have left it powered for several days and it has remained cool to the touch with no hotspots. It is passively cooled and thus completely silent. Keep in mind it is mains powered rather than battery. I am using an EE 5G SIM for testing. Initial configuration was trivial although I have generally simply used default values so far. TP-Link registration and app installation went smoothly. I have not yet attached external antennas. In addition to Wi-Fi it offers 3 RJ45 ports which might eliminate the need to use a switch in most situations. Bear in mind I am intending mainly to use this unit to provide in-room services rather than being attached to my home network. In the event of a broadband outage it might be sufficient to provide temporary connectivity of course. Further testing to follow but initial impressions are good and I certainly have not found any showstoppers. If you are looking for a reasonable 5G modem / router / access-point then you should put the NX500 on your shortlist.

Bloody Brilliant!
I wanted to extricate myself from the clutches of BT : Domain hosting, Office 365, landline and broadband...so not very straightforward. Managed the first two with a struggle, then ported the landline to Voipfone who I can't recommend highly enough. I have an NX200 in another property, so for broadband decided to go for this 5G router and an EE unlimited data sim for £12.50 +vat per month. Disappointed to start with, only getting single figure connection speeds sometimes on my PC in the corner of the next room. Over the next couple of day signal and speed gradually improved (I experienced this with my NX200) up to point where I now regularly get 140mbps even though the sim is apparently limited to 100. I live in a large victorian house with thick stone walls and the signal penetration from the NX500 is amazing. A straight line from the router to my kitchen could not be more obstructed but still hitting 30mbps. My total monthy telecoms cost is now in the region of 20 quid, it was over £80 with BT so worth trying and persevering in my view. Was prepared to get a couple of wifi6 mesh extenders but doesn't look like I will be needing them. Furthermore, if you move house, go on holiday or whatever, just unplug the router and take it with you!

Good router, quick setup
Good and reliable - does the job. It's pretty easy to set up the router, just plug in and set it up using the browser interface. Haven't used it too long, but the internet quality seems consistent and with a reasonable coverage.

Do not buy!
The product had a TP Link confirmed Ethernet hardware issue where on WiFi was being routed to the 5g internet port. Most frustrating. Returned for a full refund, but Amazon did offer me £30 if I kept it - go figure.

Bonjour Ce routeur m'a était livré avec un transformateur 220v 12v avec une prise murale pas adapté au prise murale française ! Est-il possible de m'en envoyer une compatible française

Listen if you don't need really high internet speed these are great. Obviously the speed and quality of the signal depends on your proximity to a 5G tower. Before deciding on a sim provider probably best to check the 5g signal for each network. You can fit an indoor or outdoor aerial. Once you install the SIM card you may have to play around with the location of the box and check the internet speed or signal at each location. Remember this box will give you significantly faster download speeds compared to 4G if you are relatively close to a 5G tower.
