The most spectacular photographs ever created on the subject of water appear in this unique science book by Walter Wick. The camera stops the action and magnifies it so that all the amazing states of water can be observed ย water as ice, rainbow, steam, frost, dew. Readers can examine a drop of water as it falls from a faucet, see a drop of water as it splashes on a hard surface, count the points of an actual snowflake, and contemplate how drops of water form clouds. Evaporation, condensation, capillary, attraction, and surface tension are explained through simple text and illustrated by pictures that reveal water in its many awesome transformations. The last pages of the book feature experiments that welcome the reader into the world of scientific investigation. In A Drop of Water, Walter Wick embraces two disciplines, art and science, and stimulates the reader as aesthetic and scientific observer. Review: Great for Homeschool - Great photos and short scientific descriptions that make it easy to understand the properties of water. The experiments are easy but help with understanding. All my children (from 3 to 10) love it and look forward to it each week, and they can perform most of the experiments on their own with little to no help from an adult. Review: great for educating children - Its a large book with pictures. Not too many words. Great for primary school aged kids.

Great Science resource for teaching
This book has so much great information. The pictures are stunning! Each Science concept is clear and concise with follow up Science lessons that can bring a unit study on water altogether.

Amazing
I bought this book for my children but have learned a thing or two myself like why condensation appears on a glass of cold water, why the colours are in a particular order in a rainbow. I have a new found appreciation for water in all of its states (liquid, solid, gas) and hope that my children are as enthusiastic as I am about it. It would be great to see this in science class rooms and school libraries. I hope that in our family it starts a lot of ' did you know....' type conversations. The photography is amazing too

Wonderful Resource
I love this book. The photography is beautiful and strongly reinforces the concepts. I have done many of the experiments with students from third grade through middle school, and I am considering using them with younger levels. The notes in the back of the book help budding scientists duplicate the experiments and enhance their understanding. I highly recommend this resource.
