It’s long enough to wear on your shoulder like a purse! It’s great around the neck as well! These are amazingly clear binoculars!!

Are they good for stargazing?

I think I would want something with more magnification. They are a good entry level binocular.

What does bx 1 or bx 2 mean?

It donates level of each bino Leupold makes. BX1 is entry level and BX5 would be top of the line. As you increase you get better optical quality and features, but also at an an added cost.
