FIBERFIX 38550 Repair Wrap Pro - Extreme Repair Tape 100x Stronger than Duct Tape 2" (1 Roll)

I have used this several times and i have learned the hard way how to make it go better....first be prepared with lots of water to dip it in and splash on it - that helps it mold to the pipes so much better and lets you shape it to your needs. Second...i wrap it after putting it on...i use those fiberglass exhaust wraps and then secure the whole thing with stainless steel clamps. Without doing all that, in my personal experience, i found that the fibrefix would eventually start crumbling off and separating from the pipes and i would have to redo it. With my above way i found that (so far) it has lasted a lot longer. I have an exhaust leak that i am trying to hold off on spending big dollars getting fixed at a shop, and so far this is working. Again, this is just my own personal experience, your's may/will be different.

Product works great, but I think it should be very clearly described as separate from the other fiber fix products. This is not 100x stronger than steel. It is great for exhaust repair, I bridged a 1/2" gap between my header and muffler (with some thin metal support to hold while it drys). But I wouldn't trust if for any load. It appears to be a clay based mixture impregnated into a fiber mesh strap. Had to look up instructions on youtube and find ones specific for "pro heat" because most of them are for the standard fiber fix. I'll update this review if the repair fails, I'm hoping to get at least a few years out of it.

Its been 3years now and this product is holding like a rock still I am amazed at how strong and solid . Read On my original review I have a 98 Ford Ranger that I have garage kept and id in mint condition. The Y pipe developed 2 leaks and got loud. I tried JD Weld but it burned off. I saw this Extreme Pro and ordered 2 packages. The issue was 2 crack on each pipe between the 2 pipes. The loose clay it comes with I filled in between the 2 pipes to make the 2 pipes even and then ran the wrap around the Y pipe I used both tape. Its a heavy duty fiber material infused with this brown clay Its really not a sticky tape and my first thought was this is not gonna work. Once packing the extra clay they send in pack which I used to fill the gaps in the Y pipe Then I wrapped both packages of the wrap around both pipes then added the aluminum tape around the wrap which actually is what holds the fiber in place. How this works is this clay material in the fiber material and pack against pipe under wrap gets super hot this clay turns into a rock hard cast. So I started the truck and it stopped the leak right away but got super hard and it did not smell at all . Ford stopped making this Y pipe. I was going to get it welded but the Y pipe needed to come off to do it. We tried heating the bolts to manifold up but after 22 years they would not come off. SO I am hopeful this will work because bringing it to a shop to get this damn Y pipe off to weld it will cost me 1000 plus just to seal 3 small slits it the pipe.Even if I get a year out of this product its easy enough to redo this verse the cost to weld. I dont use truck as a daily driver.

Worked like a charm for a Day or two. However I think it’s more so because we’re trying to keep a pipe from leaking. Catch about that pipe is that it’s continuously Hot. I don’t think this product was meant for that long time of continuous heat and pressure was from the crack in the pipe. Generally i like the product for other things.

I bought this as a cheap temp fix for my loud exhaust until I could afford to replace it the "right way" . I applied two kits to the pipe as it was pretty much swiss cheese . It went on easy and worked great . Now I I have time to fix it with a new exhaust but I am going to wait and see just how long the Fiber Fix will last . Thus far my exhaust is dead silent with no leaks . The only thing that might bother some is the smell But that went away about 20 minutes, so even that isn't bad . All in all at this point I am 100% satisfied and will buy again .

Not impressed! First of all, the instructions don't even tell you that you need to wet the product. You only find this out in a youtube video. The wrap itself is dry. It does not adhere. The instructions say to use the tiny bag of clay provided to "adhere it well". There is not enough clay, so it doesn't hold. Secondly, this product is thick. If you are needing to wrap a pipe in a tight area, forget it. Third, the product is way too short to be effective. You can't get good coverage. Lastly, it didn't hold up. I covered it with the clay the best I could. I did my best to cover the wrap with the aluminum foil tape provided (This was a joke!). It also did not adhere. I ran my vehicle for a while. (The instructions did not say how long to do this.) After it supposedly cured, I took it for a drive. Ok so far. The next day, when driven, it blew out. Worthless product!

My 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited started making a lot of exhaust noise, thinking I needed a muffler, I went to a national chain franchise store, and they put it on the lift. The bottom half from the catalytic converter to the muffler, about 6 inch pipe, mostly gone. The bad news, the converter is part of the smog system, and you have to buy a direct replacement. $500 Then of course the muffler needed to be replaced too because it's old, welding and labor at $140 per hour... almost $1200. Anyway, I remembered as a teen, when we had to fix everything ourselves, and the Jeep is not a daily driver, I looked on line for muffler tape. I saw a YouTube video, the guy had a similar situation. I ordered FIBERFIX 38550 Repair Wrap Pro - Extreme Repair Tape 100x Stronger than Duct Tape 2" (1 Roll) and it came quickly as usual, less than $15. I took a aluminum can, cut the ends off, and split it down the middle, put it over the hole in the exhaust, and it fit perfectly, giving the original round contours. Then wrapped the "tape" and second tape as directed. The jeep is high enough I could get underneath with out jacking. Ran the motor for 20-30 as directed, and guess what? It sounds quiet and sealed perfectly, as far as I can tell. Very worth the time, the aluminum wrap first was not in the directions, but is a definite do. RR

I have used this before and it is a great product. It handles higher temperatures than their regular exhaust wrap and although nothing lasts forever, this lasts for reasonable long period of time. It comes with clay that is necessary for the product to be effective. The last 4 packages I purchased the clay was very hard and unusable. The product was well within its "use by" date so I can't explain why the clay was hard. I had to return all 4.packages. When you open ther package, check the clay pack first...if its hard, send it back. If the clay is soft, this is a great product...if not it doesn't work and deserves 2 stars.

Months into application, this wrap still hard as initially cured condition, resisting the pressures of exhaust gas from ramping accelerator. Some advise on application though, you MUST wrap a layer of foil tape (provided with the product) over this wrap before it was cured, EVEN if it does not seem required. Otherwise there WILL be invisible glass fiber bits scattered all over your car, giving you prickly & itchy sensation (the least serious haphazard) with every skin contact to your car’s cabin surfaces.

I just finally applied it in my exhaust pipe in my car, its been a week and im hoping it will last a little longer. So far so good And it sealed the leak in my exhaust pipe pretty good, no more loud noises. I have someone install it for me and it only took around half an hour to do and half an hour to drive around after

This worked well once it was done but you have to work fast. Heavy and slimy and will stain clothes.

my exhaust snapped at my flex pipe, I bought this to hopefully fix the problem. It held strong for over a month and honestly I'm pretty pleased with it. It bought me time to get the money together for the part I needed.
