They're actually not bad so far.
Right away I was a bit disappointed. I was doing tests on these before I put them out. The tiny instruction manual barely says anything other than how solar lights in general work. They mention that it has flame mode + constant light mode and that "one gear: the flame on, the other gear, the flame off". Not worded very well. I assume that it's referring to the knob? The knob is the on / off switch and does nothing else no matter how far you turn it. Since it says you can switch the modes by the knob I thought there was a spot you could turn it to so that it would always stay in flicker mode (some other solar flicker lights have this sort of feature), cause I don't even care about the non-flicker mode. Turns out there isn't a way to just have it always flicker. When I ran tests on them, the first time I tested them it was totally random if they would flicker or be steady each time I either manually shut them off using the knob or used my hand to cover the panel (making them turn on). Second time I tested them, oddly, it was not random, they'd either flicker or be steady, taking turns. So if they continue to be this way one night they'll flicker, the next they won't, the next they'll flicker again. You can manually switch it off and on to make it change modes but that's a bit of an inconvenience, I'd rather just set them up and not have to do anything again. I don't understand why they don't have a switch or something to just have it in flicker mode all the time. I'd even be okay with it if you could turn it on and if it was on flicker mode it would stay that way unless you manually shut it off. But it's not like that either. I will say one thing I like about them so far is I was testing them in a dark room (shades closed during a sunny day) and their solar panels seem to be pretty sensitive. Even with it being dark in the room I still had to use my hand to cover them to make them turn on, that's something I look for cause that's a good sign of how efficient they'll be. If a solar light turns on and it's barely dark that's not good cause it'll turn on before you can even really see it to enjoy it and may shut off well before the night is over. I like mine to last all night. If they don't turn on until it's really dark then they'll last longer through the night. They may even save up some energy if they stay on until dawn. This is what I have to say so far and I may provide an update later on on how they do. TL;DR I like how they look but each time they turn off/on they switch to either flicker or steady, no way to have them just stay on flicker (which is what I wanted - disappointed in that). But you can manually shut them off/on to make them switch (inconvenient). They seem to have a sensitive solar panel which is a good thing. Update: So I've had these a few days now and not once have I needed to change it from solid light to flicker mode, they've been staying on flicker mode. It's funny how when testing them they kept switching each time. I guess it depends on how quickly you turn them off and on. So being they will stay in flicker mode that makes me happier cause that's what I wanted. May update my review again later if needed. They're fairly bright (brighter than most other solar lights I have) and make my backyard look cozier. Tbf they're a little bit too orange if you want something more realistic (real flames look more like warm white/yellow), but I'm okay with it for now. They still look nice.

Really cool
Using these for pirate boat lanterns. The flame effects are exactly what I was looking for. Antique looking, will see how they hold up.

Highly recommend
I have purchased these 3 different times. I love them. Mine are going strong for years so I buy them for gifts and so far everyone else loves them also. Work great and last. Not a light to see things with but good enough to light up to walk plus the flicker is so nice to see at night in the yard like a flame flickering.
