Great truck addition
Very well made, strong tubing fully adjustable fits any truck. Installed it on a 2014 ram 1500 single cab and it looks awesome. Havent used it yet but im sure its goingvto pay for itself. Cant beat the price, it was more expensive to have one built from square tubing. I will do another review in a few months to let u guys know how its holding up. I have to admit the wind noise is terrible. Thats about the only thing i didnt like.

Very Functional
This was an excellent value for the price. Yes, it’s ugly. Yes, as others have said, it will rust in some places, so expect to need to paint it if you care about looks. However, the functionality and weight capacity at this price isn’t even close to anything else. It’s large and solid as a rock. There are some squeaks as you drive over rough surfaces, but not bad. It just barely fit onto the 5’ bed of my Colorado and it’s sits fairly high off the cab - but that keeps wind noise way down. It’s barely noticeable at 70 mph. I did have to get creative bolting it to the rail b/c of the way my Colorado bed rail is constructed. Basically, I have one J hook installed regularly on each bracket, then I (carefully) drilled a hole in each bracket so that I could position the j hook into the stake holders at each corner of my bed. I had to remove the plastic rail caps to position the J hooks closest to the cab and drill a hole in the cap for the bolt to poke through, but I was able to avoid drilling or cutting any body metal in my bed.

How it mounts on the bed rails needed some creative thinking. (redneck engineering)
Just as advertised. It was the least expensive in this type, so I did not expect a construction, job ready lumber rack. I think it will do just fine now that I am retired and just need to haul an odd piece now and then. The bad, The packaging could have been better, several parts were worn to bare metal. No an issue for me as in a month it will have more of those. Everything went together fine. Instructions were good enough. The angle iron mounts that go on the bed were a problem. The clamps they sent, I could only use one per mount. They fir under the lip of the bed rail. Where they had to go there was no "under the bed rail" because of inside bed supports. I was able to run a long bolt from under the truck, thru the stake pocket and out the hole I drilled in the mount. I added a wood filler in the pocket with a hole in the center for a bit more support. But only on the back ones. The ones near the cab I added a tight fitting wood plug and used a lag screw. Each mount had one of the clamp bolts that would just barely work. I also have a cross mount tool box that goes over the front mounts and it will help hold the mount in place. I spent more time coming up with some way to mount to the bed than anything else. I assembled on the ground, left the bolts loose, Bolted the mounts on the bed, then got a friend to help lift it up and bolt to the mounts. 2 of us were busy, 3 would be better,, 4 would be easy. I will have to be careful how I load the rack, as some of the bolts will hit whatever you are carrying. Framing lumber is no problem, but grandma's antique bed frame could get scratched all to hell if you are not carful. Rather than bolts it round headed carriage bolts were used this would not be as much of a problem. I wish the bolts were black like the frame, not glow in the dark shiny, gold plated like they sent. having bitched about all that, It feels solid, I think it will work for what I need, looks very well built. The welds look like welds, not pigeon poo samples, everything fit. Well almost everything. One of the end got egg shaped in shipping and I had "round "it out so the other piece would slide in. Again, a packaging issue. I could not buy the raw steel to make a rack for what this cost. It is not expensive, appears durable, and does what I need. I would buy again. Wow! after having it on a few days I went out on the highway. A low moan starts at 50mph, by 65mph it sounds like a wolf with blue balls is on my roof. Serious wind noise. I think it is the front cross member. I have a 2010 Chevy crew cab 1500. Rather than take it off and try to return it, I think I will play with adding some sort of wind foil on the front or replace the round tube with a square. Maybe a hood bug screen will change the air flow.

Exactly what I ordered.
I Installed this on a crew cab Nissan Frountier 5’ bed the two rear J hooks were obstructed by the design of the bed I rectified this by using two aftermarket clamps that I already owned from a previous cap installation. If I did not have those clamps I would have just placed two bolts through the bed rail one on each side at the back. I have seen other users get creative with the bracing installation on shorter beds but I was happy to be able to place all the braces as engendered. This rack will be used to transport kayaks cross country and as a kayak and canoe storage rack when off the truck. For the money I’m glad I found this product it will do exactly what I need it to do.

You get what you pay for
If I could give no star review I would. Everything about this rack is garbage. This thing scratches if you even look at it wrong, and it will rust within days of installing, even where it isn't scratched. Got home from work one day and the side of my truck was covered in rust drips from driving in the rain one day. Installing the upper portion the tubes did not line up properly even after putting the square plate on holding it together so it is not 100% straight. On top of all that was the wind noise. I have had racks on trucks for the past 15 years so I expected some noise but this thing is absolutely unbearable once you hit about 55mph. By far the worst ladder rack I have owned by a mile. Save yourself the aggravation and spend the money on something of quality because this is not it. Took a while getting around to installing this so I'm well outside return window, but as soon as my new racks come in this one will be cut up and brought to the scrap yard where it belongs.

Great as a stand-alone rack or as the founddation of a specialty conversion!
So, I needed a specialty platform to mount solar panels on the truck. When I came across this LADDER TRUCK RACK, OVER-CAB, 800 LB.CAP., I had to purchase this! It fits the 2018 Dadge Ram 1500 5'7" bed very nicely. In case you're wondering, I'm building a cover to keep the other solar charging equipment, dry. I welded am optional 3" strip down the middle of the rack, and tabs on the outboard bars as a means to mount the solar panels. Even though the included instructions do not mention it, he tube walls are thick and stout and can be welded on easily. This rack is very sturdy The large mounting bases gives you the option to use the included "J" bolts or fasten to the pickup bed permanently by using the pre-drilled holes. This ELEVATE OUTDOOR rack works good as a stand-alone or as the base for your next project... Highly recommended!

Scratches very easily and rusts out everywhere
I bought and installed this in October 2025 And doing the review in march 2026. I paid $288 and for the money it’s not horrible. It’s sturdy and I know it gets knocked for wind noise but in my truck it’s not that bad. My only issue is the rust! Hasn’t even been 6 months and it’s rusting everywhere. I guess you get what you pay for
