Great palma substitute and phone is good value
I was looking for a boox palma substitute and thought the added ability to use as a phone might be fun. It works really well as a boox palma like device but the phone is amazing. I am shocked more companies don't use the matte finish and how is this phone so cheap? I had the flagship Samsung phone and love it and was looking to upgrade but spending $1500 for new flagship or $2000 for the foldable seemed like too much so I thought I would try a cheaper option I have only had this phone a few days but I think it is fantastic. I use it mainly in e-ink mode which allows for phone calls and texts. when I want to use it for other things I switch to full android. Doing this allows the phone to last for days. The camera is probably not as good as the new Samsung flagship, but it is a decent camera. I have not found out yet why this phone is not more loved and if it disappoints, I will update

Esim, paper mode, microsd, earphone but no wireless charging
This seems to be the new TCL "flagship" phone. It has some nice features such as paper mode with 26 days standby, esim, supporting memory card, 3.5 mm earphone, etc. On the other hand it doesn't have wireless charging so that it's not supporting magsafe. It's made in Indonesia versus made in China and the antutu score is about the 405k. Video shooting in 720p is lousy and the sound effect of the sample is hollow and unreal. I need to further test on 1080p to see if it's acceptable. I know for a $200 range budget phone I cannot expect it to perform as good as Samsung s25 ultra. Overall a new budget phone that's worth trying.

I love this phone so much!!! If you struggle reading on a screen, this is the one!
This is the best phone invention since the iPhone! I love the screen so much! I can finally read without my eyes hurting. If you have high astigmatism prescription, this is the right screen to read! Iโm so getting the tablet for Christmas!! Finally my eyes can read without the fuzziness from non-matte screen. I also love that the battery last so long on the next paper max setting. I can listen to my audiobooks for hours without worrying about the battery level!!! I canโt wait to see what they do with the next generation!! Thank you! TCL!! Btw of course this is not an e-ink device. And Iโm glad cause I have never liked those!! Iโm sensitive to the refreshing on a device like that. Plus the backlight on those hurt my eyes a lot. It gives me headaches and I have to stop using them. The light on this phone is softened by the matte screen so it never feels like you have the sun on your face. Iโm also sensitive to blurry edges on the letters and this TCL phone does not suffers from it due to the beautiful screen! So Iโm reading more and more. That is why I returned the box Palma and got this one! Finally a screen for people with eye sensitivity like me!! Best value for the money! (Btw I just put my boost mobile chip and it works fine) also I got the flip case to protect the beautiful screen here on Amazon. Check my profile to see the review I left there!!

Call Sound Volume is TOO LOW
Had to returned the cell phone to Amazon because of the ONE con. Pros: 1. Material and build quality is very good. Doesn't feel cheap. For 8GB RAM and 256GB storage at this price, you cannot beat it! I already own two TCL 20 Pro 5G phones and multiple TCL tvs. So I don't doubt TCL's build quality. 2. Screen size is good. The matt finish is very nice. Haven't seen it in that many other phones. The screen is bright enough for most of the lighting conditions. 3. I really wanted to keep this phone, simply because it has The NxtPaper feature. Who cares if it's e-ink or not as long as it helps my eyes. 4. The performance is good enough for my use. Video playback is smooth and clear. There are no delays or drags when multiple apps are open. Con: I was so disappointed at the sound volume on calls. When it's on a call, the voice was very very low, with or without the speakers turned on. Strangely enough the sound volume is acceptable for playing videos or streaming. I confirmed it with a YT reviewer who said the same thing and uses earbuds when making calls. If I have to guess, I have to say it is NOT a hardware issue. There must be a software setting error somewhere in the system. Since I could not root the phone, so there was nothing I could do to correct the problem. That's why I had to return it to Amazon for a refund. TCL, CORRECT THE PROBLEM. Don't let this small but Significant issue ruin this nice phone!!!

Good budget friendly phone & E-reader, just don't use it with a sunglasses.
Update#2 It's been 7 months since I got the phone aside from the slow charging & no wireless charging, this phone still works perfectly. eSim worked fine on this phone tried both Nomad and Ubigi on this phone both worked out perfectly. Update#1 found a really bad/good feature of this phone. If you happen to where a sunglasses you can't see anything on this phone if it's at a certain angle. Which is really bad if you use it in under the sun. FYI. After a full week of tuning the phone, it's finally ready! It's a good phone, felt solid, natural to easily held with one hand. Transfered my data from my old samsung phone, but missed a lot of data. (unlike a Samsung to Samsung phone transfer last time) What I like: 2TB SD card support. The price. The kindle like screen. What I don't like: no wireless charging. mind numbing wired charging speed. hard to fine a good case. So because it's so slow on charging, I dig up my old magenetic charging cable just for this phone. If I want to transfer files, just FTP it on using a APP. So far so good, only had it for less than 24hrs, everything I needed worked fine. Very budget friendly phone. Still need some tuning over the interface, but over all very good.

Perfect smartphone for protecting your eyes
If you are looking for a device that has a long-lasting battery, is easy to use with the right light-brightness, and is safe to use for your eyes... I would say this is the right device for you. The main reason why I got this device was for the price; it was exactly within my budget, and it had the specifics that I wanted, including the photos/picture quality and the app compatibility. It was easy to set up with all the previous apps that I had on my Samsung Galaxy Note, and it has been very comfortable for my eyes. I had never felt so much comfort with my eyes, and it has also encouraged me to have more spare time without the infinite scrolling of so many social media apps. I have read so many books lately, and it is pretty nice to have a device like this one, easy to use, comfortable for my eyes, right side to fit everywhere I need to put it on and use it to read most of the time. Hence, it is a great device if you are not making up your mind between getting a phone or an e-reader (either Black and White or a Color e-reader) since this device has all of those features, besides the smartphone features.

Great screen, good performance, horrible NXTPAPER mode, no premium cases available
The NXTPAPER switch is incompatible with custom home screens. When you flip the switch, it sets your home screen to the Google launcher (or a modified version of it). I use a custom launcher, so I avoid the NXTPAPER switch completely. 120fps screen is great. Navigation is very smooth. I use the phone in grayscale (through the accessibility settings, not the NXTPAPER modes), and I love love love the matte screen. Still doesn't quite read like an e-reader, but it's a very nice screen. Headphone jack and microSD card slots are a big plus. (Most people have poor-person phones, because the manufacturer assumes the user is too poor to own either headphones or a microSD card. This is a rich-person phone because it knows that I have the money for both.) Battery life is pretty good, but that's really from modern Android locking down background processes. Plays Dreamcast and PSP pretty good. Sonic Adventure 2 runs great; Sonic Adventure 1 is shaky; Rez is unplayable. Beware, quality cases are not available for this phone. The only reputable case available for this phone is from AXS, but they don't sell the case directly to US customers. I bought my case from AXS through a forwarder, and it cost me ~$90 USD to do so. Most people are going to try to make this phone work with a 'cheap chinese crap' case, and most cheap cases don't cover the huge circular camera bump. TCL walked away from this circular camera bump design with the next generation, and it's going to make cheap cases much more viable for the 70-series.

Interesting concept with some glitches
It's an interesting phone in terms of you having the ability the use it as a regular color phone (non-reflective screen), a black and white phone for less strain on the eyes, or a full-on e-ink type device for better battery life. But good luck getting phone service if you want to use the e-sim on it! The phone says it has e-sim capability and a place in settings to add one. But I tried one service - they have no record of this phone and will not allow it to be attempted. Another service? Says the IMEI number on this is "locked". Another? "No e-sim capability for this device". So it might be a nice phone if I could put service on it! Decent battery, interesting display, good price, but if you can't put phone service on it, it's basically just a small wifi only tablet. On some other "not ready for prime time" observations, though: Even when the adaptive brightness is turned OFF, the display in color mode will go dim and bright, up and down, on it's own. Even when you manually adjust it and leave it, with again, the adaptive option off, it still does this. The screen looks fine otherwise when viewing straight-on, but when viewed at even the slightest angles, it dims quickly. The phone also warms up quickly when doing even basic things for a short period of time - it doesn't get "hot", but gets noticeably warm quick. I'll update this if things change, but between the varied small glitches on this phone and the inability to use e-sim with any of the several services I TRIED to sign up for, I cannot recommend this at this time.
