A more melodic and lyrical turn from the metal masters
I think the name of the album speaks for itself; this is very much an evolution of sound from the team that brought those nu metal staples of Down With The Sickness and Stupify. I don't think that's a bad thing though; here we have a much slower paced and thoughtful delivery with smooth harmonies and acoustic guitar backing it up. David Draiman is showcasing his unique vocal skills on this album, and all the better for it. Personal highlight is Already Gone, which builds beautifully and melodically yet still is undeniably a Disturbed track. Probably not one that die-hard metalheads are going to love, but this particular metalhead is loving it more with every listen.

Different but good
I have been a fan of Disturbed since I heard their first album The sickness in year 2000. And they have never disappointed me with their music. Each album just as good as the next. Many have been talking about that Evolution is not as good as for example Immortalized. That is because Immortalized was so f...ing good. Every song better than the next. It is understanding why people are not as happy with that album Evolution. The songs are not as hardcore as previous albums and some songs are very slow and relaxing. Which is not that bad. I had been waiting for songs like that since Darkness of the Believe album. As a Disturbed fan I am happy to hear new songs of new album.

The evolution of Draiman
As with all bands, there comes a point where you say to yourself "I want to do something more satisfying". It has happened to all of them and quite right too. This still has the Disturbed sound but, in truth, the Disturbed of old is......old. Draiman has taken them to a new, more meaningful level. A depth they probably wanted. It will leave the spotty teens cold and the more sophisticated listener enthralled. Its not all riveting, but it is a start in the right direction

Nothing like previous albums but awesome in its own way
This is not at all what I expect when someone says "album by Disturbed" but there are some amazing songs on this. With an overall feel to the album being more melancholy and full of remorse it seems to capture several stages of loss (including sadness in spades as well as the more positive recovery stage. All with David's well renowned vocals but with even more "Sound of silence" influence coming in. I highly recommend the deluxe version for the added track "Uninvited guest"

Big noize
Crikey, the chaps at Disturbed certainly know how to make a big, big 'noize' (as I believe it's known). I bought this as an Xmas present for a younger member of the family and when I enquired as to its nature, I was greeted with the snarling response: "You wouldn't like this. . . at all!" My curiosity undiminished, I was able to listen via the excellent Amazon Prime Music. I particularly liked the cover of Mr Paul Simon's "The Sound of Silence" and can only hope that they consider covering Peter, Paul and Mary or even Miss Julie Felix.
