I was taken aback when I saw the packaging (it was just a small brown box). I thought it might have been counterfeit. This morning, I did a taste test and was pleasantly surprised. It was rich and matched the flavor of a packet I still had from the Starbucks store. The price is significantly better. The packets are individually labeled with the expiration date, and don't expire until 12 months from now. Also, in case you are new to these instant packets, they are much better than a jar or can, because they retain their freshness so much longer. (I find the instant loses flavor quickly once the container opened.) Highly recommend!

If you are a fan of dark roast coffee, this instant Italian roast from Starbucks will not disappoint. In one cup of boiling water an individual packet makes a bold cup of morning joe that is smooth and rich. I drink mine black, no sugar. Only a slightly bitter finish. I'm impressed.

The coffee is great, but there is a big issue. This is an Amazon issue. They show a special box for Starbucks Via Instant dark roast coffee. It is a box you can stand up on your counter and there's a little pull-down tab at the bottom, so you can take your coffee packets out from there. THREE TIMES now when I order this coffee (which tastes great) AMAZON has thrown the loose coffee packets in to a plain brown cardboard box, tapped it close, and sent me the coffee in that. Last time I was upset so I called Starbucks and they claimed it was Amazon re-packaging it. When I called Amazon, they had no explanation. It's obviously AMAZON doing this, so I'm warning you in this review NOT to buy it from AMAZON if you want it to come in the packaging it was meant to be in.

This is my go to coffee every day. I don’t want or need anything else they are just that good. I turn on my electric kettle, open two packets (I like my coffee super dark-practically espresso (does not taste like burnt coffee), add half packet of sweetener and three tablespoons of nondairy creamer, and when the water is ready add about 10 ounces of water, and stir with electric frother. Heaven. My guests like one packet 8ozs of water and whatever version of sweetener/creamer they want and they always drain their cup! The Italian is the darkest. The French is not as much. It’s so easy to use, easy to travel with (I pack them for every trip)(because the packets are so small they take up no room), smooth as silk and smells delicious. I am not happy unless I’ve had my via coffee. Thanks Starbucks! I look forward to my coffee everyday. Sometimes more!!
