A CREATIVE JAPANESE-ENGLISH PICTURE BOOK Whether you are a child or an adult, this Japanese-English childrenโs book is a pleasure to look at, as it features wonderful illustrations for each letter of the Japanese alphabet, how to pronounce numbers, how to call different animals, translation of words, and so much more! AN EXCELLENT TOOL TO LEARN JAPANESE FOR KIDS This book gives both parents and children an easy way to study the Japanese language with its excellent translation from English to Japanese. Review: Easy but Too Short - This is a Japanese bilingual book for babies and it works fine for basic use. Itโs simple and easy to go through, but it has less content, so my son finishes it very quickly ๐ . Overall, itโs decent but quite short Review: A really unhelpful book to teaching bi-lingual children anything - So, I purchased this book because of the angle it had for helping bilingual children learn Japanese and English. But this book is nothing more than some glossy pages put together with illustrations of all the normal stuff like animals, food, opposites, and so on. It has the Japanese words in large and then the English words written so small next to the Japanese words or under the Japanese and was so small I could barely read any of them. And... that's it. This goes on for about 27 pages. This book should not cost what it costs, as there is no helpful teaching tools in this book, just illustrations you can find online for free. Also, some of the words it wants to teach children seem a little out of touch with reality (armchair/hijikakeisu...really? Sorry if I spelled this wrong... your print is barely readable it's so small), in terms of what is important to a child to learn and understand. But there is no understanding to be had, really, with this book... it's just put together, I feel, to capitalize on the difficult struggle that parents have with teaching bilingual kids how to communicate in English and Japanese effectively. There are definitely way better books and tools out there to do this. I really am disappointed.

Small flimsy book but great source material
The book is small and flimsy paperback but the material is good. My toddler has US and Japan dual citizenship and sheโs moving to Japan next week so Iโm getting a head start with teaching her words from this book.

Son is learning fast
This book has been great for our son to learn basic phrases in preparation for our move to Japan. The pictures make it fun and he loves it.

Errors and omissions
There are multiple words written in hiragana that should have been written in katakana. Additionally, the romaji is incorrect in several cases, so if you can't read hiragana, you might mispronounce the words based on the wrong romaji. Finally, there are two pages of animal sounds with no English translation or romaji, which might make it frustrating for people who can't read hiragana. I still gave the book two stars instead of one because my child who can't read yet still enjoys it because of the pictures.
