EltaMD UV Skin Recovery Face Sunscreen with Zinc Oxide, All Mineral, Safe for Sensitive Skin SPF 50

EltaMD UV Skin Recovery Face Sunscreen, SPF 50, 1.7 oz I have used several EltaMD sunscreens over the years and liked how they fit into my routine, so when this newer tinted version was released, I wanted to try it. I have been using it each morning as my main face sunscreen. The formula spreads easily and blends in smoothly without streaks or patchiness. The green tint looks noticeable at first but blends in quickly and did not leave any visible cast once applied. My skin looked more even after application, especially around my nose where it typically gets red. Some sunscreens tend to leave my skin feeling dry, but with this one my skin felt soft and comfortable. Throughout the day, I did not notice stinging, irritation, dryness, or increased redness. It has earned a regular place in my daily routine.

At 37 years old, it has become apparent how important a good skincare routine is. It used to be so easy to put any foundation or bb cream, on and just go, let’s just say we cannot do that anymore! I have very dry fair, cool toned skin with redness. So covering that while still hydrating my skin is extremely hard, even with bb and cc creams or tinted moisturizers. I have found the majority of them lean more warm toned and even the lightest, which makes me look orange. From cakey to orange, it’s just not a great situation. Whole I have dry skin, it really isn’t bad but I want to even out my skin tone because of redness and dry skin. I was definitely influenced by TikTok with this product, but let me tell you that it does exactly what it says it does. It instantly removes the majority of the redness in my face, while keeping it protected from the sun and evens out my skin tone. I feel like it is also working to resolve the overall issue of redness too. It is expensive, but from what I seen, it lives up to the hype. I haven’t tried it under a cc cream or foundation, but using it with some blush, concealer, and bronzer, definitely works! I also like that I can use my HSA for it too!

I have very sensitive rosacea prone skin. Finding a suitable sunscreen that plays well with my sensitive skin, without making me feel oily has always been a challenge. So far, this Elta sunscreen recovery edition (both the green tinted and white versions) have taken the crown at my #1 spot. Pure mineral zinc, this screen leaves very little cast especially with the tinted version. It actually absorbs well into my skin, even at my beard line! That's another struggle with mineral tints. Luckily, this has been nothing short of perfection. Pricey, yes. But 100% worth it! Bravo for this formula.

This is my holy grail sunscreen. For context, I have rosacea and extremely sensitive skin. I prefer to use mineral-based sunscreen because my skin agrees with them best. Wha I don’t like about mineral sunscreens is how chalky and heavy they feel. EltaMD’s UV Skin Recovery is my personal perfect balance of mineral based filters and cosmetic elegance. The green tint is just enough to offset a white cast and tones down the redness just a bit. I know there is a chemical SPF “booster” in the ingredients; however, my skin has tolerated it just fine vs a traditional chemical sunscreen. I’m on my fourth repurchase!

Elta MD is a fantastic product and provides excellent sun protection and coverage. I am not confident that this took a ton of the red out of my skin. I used this after a laser procedure to even my skin out during recovery time, but I am not confident red coloring was diminished. The sun protection is second to none, but the discoloration aspect wasn't resolved.

I have extremely sensitive skin that is red pretty much all the time. This winter my face has been so reactive and this sunscreen is light, takes the edge off off the redness, leaves a satin finish but is never greasy

I was initially attracted to, and still appreciate the overall concept of this product. Unfortunately, it is relatively pricey, and the Perry Oral dermatitis did not show up until after the return window clothes so if you have sensitive skin, I would not recommend. If you’ve never had Perry oral dermatitis Issues, it might be a good thing, though then you may not need the redness support?

I keep coming back to the sunscreen because it’s the best. I think I have purchased about 20 of these. The sunscreen is really soothing for my rosacea and calms my redness and it’s clear and doesn’t have a bad smell. I actually really enjoy using it.
