Meine Frau backt leidenschaftlich gerne Sauerteigbrot. Also kam die Gรคrkiste von Brod and Taylor ins Haus.

I never thought that I would spend the funds to give my bread dough a place to rise. That changed when I over proofed a dough so bad that I tossed it into the garbage. That was when I used the old "put it in the oven with the light on" location. Our new home has a counter depth oven which is smaller than our old one. The light ran the temperature up to almost 90 degrees inside which was not what our old oven light would accomplish. Result: bread dough that blew up like a balloon and fell flat like a tortilla in a short time period. Enter Brod & Taylor Proofer. In a home that is 67 degrees in the winter, this tool allows me to proof breads at a consistent 78 degrees. Couple this with a dough aliquot tube set sold here on Amazon and my proofing is nailed down. Other reviews will tell you dimensions and hard facts, so I will give my impressions and discoveries. It folds down into a laptop size so plan a spot for it in advance. It sets up without any drama; if you can open up a kids pop up book, you can set this proofer up. The heating plate never feels much over barely warm to the touch when operating at 78 degrees and is totally silent in operation. It will hold a 10 x 14 inch focaccia pan and any pan or bowl smaller. The small water pan sits under the included rack and will keep your dough from drying out during proofing. I still use plastic wrap on my doughs but I am a Luddite. You have just at 8 inches of height under the lid when closed and a Risesecret Aliquot Jar will fit easily inside the proofer next to your dough bowl if you are wondering. I have never had to clean it since nothing has spilled inside it. The instruction book is full of helpful information on proofing and slow cooking if you desire to do that. This is an expense that a baker needs to decide if they need it or they don't. It will remove 1 variable in your bread baking; you can control the temperature that you proof dough which in turn controls your prep time. Add in an aliquot tube for dough rising percentage and you can add a lot more confidence in your bread results. My Mom baked hundreds of loaves without a proofer but she was a much better baker. I need all the help I can get so this proofer is wonderful.

This is an excellent appliance. I used the Brod Taylor sourdough-house to make my sourdough starter initially and use this proofing oven, set to 23C, to proof my sourdough prior to making bread, pizza and naan bread. I have great starter so proofing only takes about 10 to 12 hours. The proofing oven make the wholes fermentation process fool proof and I use it frequently before baking bread and in between times to ferment kefir. Size is excellent, there's enough room for a large bowl (1kg bread) or three to four rectangular bread baking tins of dough.

I make bread twice a week and although it costs more, this has been well worth the money. Offers consistent results when proofing bread. Itโs also easy to set up, use, and then folds up for storage. Iโm very happy with this!
