Absolutely love this book... especially the illustrations. Kindergartner approved!
One month in and I have already reordered this book as a gift. It is wonderful! My six-year-old son and I both enjoyed it. The illustrations are just beautiful and the story is fun. Everyone wants to take a nap, but needs someone to wake him up in ten minutes. But at the end of the chain, who is left but the sloth? We had fun making the sound effects and guessing what animal was next.A minor complaint - the logic was a bit off. If the first animal needed to be awake ten minutes later and then several animals down the chain needed the same... well, time would have passed and he would then be awakened AFTER ten minutes... BUT, it's a kids' story, so who cares right? Actually, it opened up a math conversation with my son, so I'd say that was just fine. This book is refreshing and sure to be a favorite. These "to English" translations are always winners. For another fun one, try Brief Thief!

Great for getting ready for nap time
I can't nap. It is one of my more annoying qualities. Everyone in the house can drift off into sleep except me. While having the house to myself while everyone is taking a quick siesta is nice, I do end up with the responsibility of waking someone else up when they ask me to. This is more or less what happens within this book. It's the perfect weather for a quick siesta, but the jaguar has something important to do in 10 minutes. So he asks for a favor to be woken up by the closest animal that comes by. Then that animal wants to take a quick nap and asks the next animal to wake it up so that it can wake up the jaguar. Of course, you know that this goes on a bit. It's prefect for new readers as they are easily able to catch into the rhythm of the book and fill in any pauses or blanks that you include for them. The animals are vibrant and the pictures are well done without a lot of extras. Altogether, I think this was a lot of fun and I'll happily read it over and over with my son and niece and nephews.

Sweet and simple story....
This is a cute book, both the story itself and the pictures.Jaguar wants to take a siesta, because the cool breeze is hard to resist, but he has something important to do. What should he do?This is a nice book to read before bedtime, depending on how loud you decide to read a certain noise that happens. (The louder, the better, as far as laughter goes, but not if your little one's eyelids are getting heavy.) It's also short, so it's perfect for those nights when less is more.I like that the animals included in this story aren't ones that you find in the average book. Aside from the jaguar, there's also a coati, a cockatiel, and a sloth. (I'm horrified to admit that I'd never even heard of a coati.)This is a sweet and simple book. It's one that I think most children(and parents) will enjoy.

Adorable book, cute message
There are several animals in the jungle, but there's also an amazing breeze. The jaguar wants to nap, but he needs to be somewhere important in 10 minutes. What's he to do? Ask a friend to wake him up in 10 minutes. But that friend realizes that HE wants to sleep... and so on. Thus the plot of the book. It's simple, it's well illustrated, it's cute, and your child will love it. Plus it's easy to act out with the yawning and the breeze, and the sloth is a great character (scapegoat the sloth, I know, but he is lazy by definition!). It's a larger book, so if you're looking for something your kid can manhandle him/herself, this might not be ideal - but I highly recommend this book.

Really Loud Snoring!
This is a neat book! I read it to my five-year-old daughter, and she wanted me to read it again when I finished. The illustrations are nice, the storyline is fun, and it's an enjoyable book to read with a kid. It's fun to see a kid smile about loud snoring! My only minor complaint is that there are a few words and phrases younger kids might not know (like "take advantage of," "particularly thrilled," and "explanations"). But the kids can still easily follow the story. Recommended!

summer naps
Funny story about animals taking a nap. It has a surprise ending that my son loved. I had to explain what "siesta" and "breeze" means and he was not sure what some of the animals were, but this is how they learn, right? The pictures are big blocks of color, and my son liked them, too. The book is written well. It is a translation from Spanish, and it seems to be a good one.The book is large hardcover, printed on some good quality paper.

Such a fun book!
This is such a cute little book and my children love it every time we read it. The illustrations are beyond beautiful and the story is so fun. Everyone wants to take a nap, and they ask each other to wake them up by a specific time and it just keeps going from one animal to another until the sloth is left at the end. The length was perfect for a before bed book and kept everyone interested enough that I did not have to stop to get a different book.

Great artwork and nice quality book
Three stars for terrific art and good quality book.I love childrens books. My three year old grandson loves books. This story simply isn't interesting, engaging, nor is it funny. The words aren't catchy and don't have a good reading rhythm.Having read the other vine reviews, I see I am in the minority here.I will be interested to see what paying customers have to say about this one.
