A1 Lawn, Shade & Drought Tolerant Grass Seed - Hard Wearing, Fast Growing, DEFRA Certified, 20kg

I thoroughly recommend this seed. I have tall trees in my garden and unfortunately squirrels ruined the previous lawn leaving me to have to start from scratch. I sowed these on 28/02/26 with hessian jute (first pic)covering to protect against birds and squirrels. I removed cover after 3 weeks to see a decent amount of coverage (second pic). The lawn has had 5 cuts subsequently and is thriving (third pic). The lawn looks brilliant and is thickening up nicely. I noticed there had been some reviews stating that some buyers had now seeds sprout. Based on my experience, I believe they must have had a dud batch. My previous preferred seed company stopped trading in the UK and after researching online, this seed was recommended as best for my garden type. Will definitely use again.

fantastic quality seed - as others mentioned they are a little slow to sprout, but the grass is beautiful and truly shade resistant as advertised.

I will update this review again after the winter because the test will be how it copes with that. Every year so far I have had to re-seed all under the trees in my garden because the moss takes over completely. I know that I will never get rid of the moss that grows there over winter unless I get rid of the trees but if this shady grass is stronger and more able to cope with it and hopefully may cut down on the amount of moss it will be something, time will tell. As for how it is now its beautiful, I have grass as green as in the picture looking like a lush carpet. It is growing in every inch under the trees even in places it NEVER grew before, Everyone is commenting on how beautiful it is. Its well worth the money and I will be back for more and thoroughly recommend it, BEAUTIFUL. I WILL UPDATE AFTER ALL SEASONS ARE TESTED, IT WAS SOWN IN LATE APRIL 2014

When it eventually germinates (one month+ in ideal conditions) it looks good and gives a good coverage. Seems to grow well in shady areas. Takes a couple of months to thicken up. This is the grass seed to use if your not in a rush for a green lawn.

we put this down on the 27th june it is now 2nd july and this is how quick we started to see shoots,time will tell how hardy it is,we mixed the seed with topsoil and normal potting compost and sprinkled it about.looks promising so far

I had a large area of 600sq meters which I rotovated and hand raked. After soil prep I bought 45kg of shade tolerant seed which I hand sowed and used a heavy roller to compact seed to the soil, planted 2nd June. I was worried about recent negative reviews however following 8 days of regular decent rainfall my seeds have germinated. Their is uneven growth but factoring in my spreading and birds I am very pleased. It looks like 70% of the area is covered in new grass shoots.I intend to use the 10kg of seed I have left Over, to reseed the patches and look forward to enjoying an full lawn. I would recommend and would purchase again

Sowed on Thursday 1st June as the hot weather started, kept sprinkler on during the day and saw germination 9 days later. Starting to look thicker a few days later. Fingers crossed a hood lawn fir this shady patch by a ditch.
