Creamy, saturated colors
I absolutely love my new Sennelier watercolors! I bought the palette of 12 in the travel set. The size is perfect; it is small and portable. As a beginner with watercolors, I felt overwhelmed with all of the palettes offered. I decided to keep it simple and settled on this pallet because I can better learn to blend colors. The paint itself requires minimal water to activate, is very rich and creamy, and I couldn’t be happier with the color saturation! I have only tried generic, and Winsor & Newton Cottman brands- compared to those, this is by far superior! The pallet itself is black metal and is decent quality. I feel I have plenty of room for blending. On the lid and flap. The half pans do move around in the palette a bit, but there is room to add an empty half pan on top and one and bottom to make it feel snug. This allowed me to add the warm gamboge and sap green colors I always use. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the quality of the paints and the palette itself and would definitely buy Senellier watercolors again! 😊

A little pricey, at first, but truly beautiful color and quality.
I'm sold. I really love these watercolors. The tin is very small - about the size of an iphone, but the paints will last a very long time because they are so rich in pigment. They mix very well and go on smooth. I ordered tubes and empty half pans of the colors I like to replace some of the colors I don't really use much. The case comes with 12, but will hold 14 half pans. it also had the little finger ring on the back so you can just palm the tin. I'm very pleased with Sennelier watercolors so far. If you're interested, the Sennelier website has a pdf with all the colors, their lightfastness rating, and had each one labeled for transparent, opaque, or semi opaque. Since I mostly do ink texture. Several of the colors you might use have not yet been rated, but I was surprised to see several colors that are traditionally made with 'fugitive' pigments have top ratings for lightfastness. The pigments are listed on the pdf I mentioned, but I'm not familiar enough with watercolor pigments to know if say alizarin crimson from Sennelier is made with a different pigment than one from W.N. In anycase, I'm very pleased with these.

Good paint in less than perfect condition
Love Sennelier paint. That part would get 5 stars. Arrived promptly; no problem there. SAA is a reputable organization, so I trust it is real, though i have not used it yet. But last three pan set orders from Amazon arrived with grit and dust embedded into the paint. Sent two back, as there was too much to even try doctoring. Those were 48 half-pan sets. Did not send this 12 half-pan set back, as i was able to clean most if it with a hot knife. Hesitant to order pan sets through Amazon again though. Sorry to say it. But quality control seems to be an issue. Really hope Amazon can get a better handle on that.

Really fun to work with
As a long-time user of Winsor and Newton artists watercolors, I was just curious about trying the Sennelier box of half pans. The colors are just amazing to work with, the paint handles really well. The colors have a lot of pigment in them, as others have said. I compared them when dry to similar colors in Winsor and Newton's line, and probably because I'm used to their colors, have a slight preference for the old Winsor and Newton colors. But I think with time I'll be using these just as much, and I understand these Sennelier colors are wonderful for building up layers of glazes. I would think any watercolorist would love this box of 12 Sennelier half pans. If you don't want to invest this much, see if you can find the little Sennelier Aqua Mini, sort of a sample set of 8 colors in a tin the size of an Altoids mint tin. The Aqua Mini box of 8 does not include plastic half-pans to contain the paint-- the rectangles of paint are just sitting in sockets in a flimsy plastic sheet--sorry I don't know how to describe it, same theory as eggs in an egg carton? But you could put the paint into empty half pans, and it is a nice way to try a few colors for about $20-$25. (A few of the colors are the same in the Aqua Mini set of 8 colors, and this set of 12 colors, but I bet you'd love them and won't mind having a couple of duplicate colors). This set of 12 half-pans comes in a light-weight but good tin that seems well made, and has a ring on the back for holding the box while you paint, if you care to do so.

perfect for travel or sitting at a coffee house or park
I highly recommend the 12 count set. For my needs, I also bought a half-pan of opera rose, to replace one of the reds. (If you miss having black, you could do that with the grey pan as well. Just be sure you're buying half-pans.) One of the things I love about this is it's very similar to the 48 count set, the metal box is of similar quality and the case layout will feel familiar if you have a larger set. It's just much smaller. I was surprised by how perfect its size is and it would be incredibly easy to tuck this in a bag with a 3x5 watercolour sketchbook and you'd be set without all the weight. These will go everywhere. If you have a beginning watercolour artist in your life, this would be a great set to get them started with. If you have someone who is an experienced artist, this would be perfect for them to take with them on the go for urban sketching or those down-times in places where you find yourself waiting or simply out for a walk to a park. A note: I see some people saying they're too thick. You are probably not adding enough water. I use a bottle with a dropper and drip water on the pans. Mix gently with your brush to wake up the paints.

Pigmented, creamy, TINY!
These watercolors are so pigmented and creamy. It's a cute little set and by little, I mean it's as small or slightly smaller than an iPhone. The pans inside are TINY and held in place by metal prongs. Now, If you're a watercolor set collector, this is a set you'll want. If you want a 'travel set', this would be perfect for it; this is something you could slide in your pocket. ***Protip: If your pans continue falling out EVEN AFTER you have bent the prongs in place, take the pans out, bend the prongs BEFORE you place the paint inside. It's a much tighter fit that keeps the paints in place, no more falling out!***

Great Choice
This set is my first experience with Sennelier watercolors. The paint is made with honey and a joy to use. Of course, the size is perfect for travel. The container has room to add other half pans at the ends or in the middle.

High Quality
I've been learning watercolors with the help of my mother who is an experienced painter. She suggested I buy professional grade paints. I thought they were a bit expensive but I figured you get what you pay for. I like the packaging. The names of the paints are on a clear plastic tab that overlays the pans. The top folds out and lets you mix a couple colors. I am able to paint a very wide range of values from barely visible to completely opaque. So far they seem really nice to me. According to my mom the performance I'm getting is due to the quality of the paints.
