Mohawk Home 2' x 3' Non Slip Rug Pad Gripper 3/8 Thick Dual Surface Felt + Rubber Gripper - Safe for All Floors

I bought the rug pad, 3/8”, for 8x10 rug. Perfect thickness. I think 1/4” definitely too thin. 1/2” better but 3/8” really gives a more plush feel. Reviews said it has to be trimmed. I was expecting more to trim, but as you can see it is almost spot on for the 8x10 rug I have. It is a bit heavy and cumbersome to move but 1 person can do it. The rubber grip on bottom is really nice. Seems to stay in place. It laid flat with no issues after it had been laying out. Overall, I am happy with my purchase. Why 4 stars? 1. The odor!! Whoa!! It is hard to describe it. Strong chemical & almost cat urine like odor. I had it laid out in a room for 4 days and it was still strong but slowly decreasing. The Mohawk site when I placed question in Amazon said to air outside in sun. Spray with combo of water and vinegar to dissipate odor. I did both! Left outside for 6 hours with that mixture sprayed on it. That was a HUGE improvement! Mohawk should have some info regarding the odor and how to resolve. Next, the 6-7 spots on the grip underside. I called Mohawk they said it should not have those marks. They didn’t appear to be the source of the smell, and I still don’t think so. The spots don’t bleed through to the top layer. I almost thought I had a returned item, still not sure if I don’t but decided to keep.

Would be five stars, but doesn’t measure as advertised or labeled. Says it’s 3‘ x 5‘ but I received 30 inches by a little over 93 inches! I actually bought this as a carpet backer for automotive use. So it’s much longer than advertised but not quite as wide.

6 months later and this rug pad has been perfect! We did have to trim the pad down so the edges of our rug were overlapping a few inches over the pad and the rug was flush with the floor. This made the rug look better. The cutting at the factory wasn’t even anyway, so expect to do a little trimming. As for the depth, 3/8 ended up being comfy enough to sit on so that you’re not feeling the hard floor, however I would not describe it as “cushy” or “soft.” It’s still pretty firm. (we have young kids so we spend a lot of time on this rug!) but I also wouldn’t want any larger depth due to the little step it would cause going from the laminate floor to the rug. Lastly - it allows me to vacuum my very thin Amazon rug that was too hard to vacuum without this pad!

Great item. 1/4 inch thick works fine on heavy oriental. All I need is to stop movement when dog jumped on it, not plush padding. Perfect job and fit 20’ runner PERFECTLY

Very pleased with how this works with my Kilim rug on a wall-to-wall carpet.
